"Esme, you're gonna have to go live with your aunt and uncle for a while."Celeste dad Marco said to young celeste with tears forming in his eyes.
"But papa I wanna live with you"Young Celeste says while tears streaming down her face as they stood in front of her aunt and uncle's house.
"I'm so sorry Celestial, I wish I could've been better for you,"Marco said, closing his eyes ,kissing celeste's forehead one last time. "Be a good girl and go wait on the porch for your auntie and uncle okay?"
"Yes papa"even at a young age, all Celeste wanted to do was please everybody, especially her papa.
"I love you celestial"Marco said, watching her turn and walk with her rabbit stuffy to the porch of his sister's house.
And that was the night Celestial's father killed himself.
"papa"Celeste cried out
Celeste woke up with tears in her eyes as she had just woken up from another dream of her papa before he killed himself. She just wished her 7 year old self wouldn't have been so stupid and realized before it was too late. She'd never forgive herself.
Once celeste was up, she was up. Her uncle had yet to knock on the door yet but she still wanted to begin getting ready. She put on her uniform which consisted of a plaid skirt that wasn't too long and a plain white button up. She grabbed her little travel sized brush and began brushing her hair.
After celeste was done she laid down and grabbed her stuffy that she liked to call Esme since that's what her dad would call her. Once she had her stuffy she continued to wait for someone to knock on her door.
Later~
"You better be up, girl"My uncle said as he pushed the door open to Celeste's room.
"Yes sir" Celeste said immediately, hoping he wouldn't take his anger out on her right before school.
"You're gonna use Milo's old bookbag and notebooks"He said, throwing the bookbag on the floor before slamming the door. Luckily for Celeste milo book bag was a plain white one and it also had been pretty clean on the outside at least from what she could tell.
Celeste crawled and got the book bag before opening it up, she wanted to see what might be in it.
There were three books that seemed to be used and a couple of pens and highlighters that also seemed very shiny and new to her. She didn't know whether Milo just didn't use his stuff or if he was just very clean. But a small part of her wanted to believe Milo might have given her the clean things.
Maybe Milo had liked her but just had a silly way of showing it.Just as she thought of him there was a knock on the door waking her up from her thoughts. She knew it was him since nobody else bothered to knock.
"Celestial we're leaving" He said through the door.
Celeste anxiety was through the roof, she felt like everything was just hitting her all at once. Tears began rolling down her cheek before she wiped them quickly knowing if she made Milo late, her uncle would be mean again. She quickly left her room and went downstairs after stuffing Esme into her bookbag in hopes maybe sometime through the day she could give her another hug.
Her aunt sat on the couch where her uncle also sat.
"Bye, have a good day of school son."Maria said, kissing her son on the top of his head like she did everyday while Celeste just stood by the doorway awkwardly trying her best not to start crying. She had hoped her aunt would at least say goodbye to her, but ever since yesterday when her aunt got mad at her it hasn't been the same between them.
Milo opened the door after saying goodbye and wishing his parents a good day as well.Celeste followed closely behind him as they walked to his truck. Celeste didn't know what type of car he had but she remembered when he got it and how happy she was from him because he started crying out of joy and that made her happy, even if she had a bit of resentment in her heart for him.
Milo started the car as Celeste used all her strength to get in the truck. Silence was all that was heard for about 3 minutes. But celeste didn't mind, she was already anxious and talking wouldn't do anything but make it worse.
"I'm sorry for how things turned out for you."Milo said, keeping his eyes on the road, which she was thankful for. Celeste heard loud and clear what he said but she just stayed quiet, she didn't understand what he meant.
"I hope today goes well for you."Milo says quieter than before making it seem he was more like talking to himself. What Celeste didn't know was that Milo's guilt was eating him alive every single day he saw her. He had let his parent's treat the innocent girl like trash and he was still continuing to do so. He tried to make it up in little ways, but he knew that Celeste deserved better for her kind heart.
So to block out the guilt he just turned on the radio and hoped it would drown the guilt that rang in his ears.
Celeste just laid her head on the window looking at her surroundings making sure she remembered how to get home since later today she would be walking home. Lucky for her the way home was long but at least it was a straight shot.
Before she knew it Milo was parking the car and getting out of the car.
Celeste just did a quick prayer like her dad taught her whenever she was anxious whens he was little which was always.
She then hopped out the car and followed behind Milo as he walked through what Celeste could only assume was the main door. She felt like she couldn't breathe, there were so many people and they all towered over her.
Milo quickly was long gone, and she had no idea where he went. She just wanted it to end, she had been trying to find the main office ever since they arrived in the school. Now she stood in the corner by a trash can, tears falling down her eyes and lip quivering. She felt so stupid, everybody walked by ignoring the small girl in the corner.
She was so busy she hadn't even noticed the extremely pretty girl walking up to her. The girl had bright red hair that was cut in a bob with sunglasses sitting on top of her head.
"Hey, what's wrong?"The girl said with her eyebrows furrowed as she was confused what a girl like this was doing in the corner crying after the bell rang.
Celeste's head shot up in surprise.
"I-I can't f-find the office,"Celeste said hiccuping.
"Hey hey, it's okay. You must be new here, I'm Clementine but everybody cause me clem" Clementine said before continuing."How about i show you to the office?". Fuckers . Clementine thought as she tried not to roll her eyes. She could not believe that nobody tried to help the girl.
Celeste immediately nodded following the girl as she began walking.
Celeste just hoped this was the hardest part of her day.
