Once upon a time, in the hidden part of France...a handsome young prince, a beautiful young princess. Both lived in beautiful castles. The princess, daughter of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. She was the oldest of her siblings and the wisest, Camille Auguste. Although the prince has everything he desired, his one true love went back to her castle before his party, an emergency her lady-in-waiting said. The prince turned selfish and unkind, knowing that his love would be wedded to someone that her father chose for her....and it wouldn't be him.
He taxed the village to fill his castle with the most beautiful objects, objects that he knew would remind him of his Camille while she went back to her family in the center of France. While his parties would hold the most beautiful people, none of them could capture his attention as Camille did.
Then one night, an unexpected intruder arrived at the castle, seeking shelter from the bitter storm. As a gift, she offered the prince a single rose. Repulsed by her haggard appearance and enraged that the woman brought up his one and only love, the prince turned the woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances.
For beauty is found within.
When he dismissed her again, the old woman's outward appearance melted away. To reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince begged for forgiveness, but it was too late. For she had seen that the only love in his heart, had ridden away in the same carriage that took his princess back to her family, back to the King and Queen of France. As punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast. And placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. As days bled into years, the prince and his servants were forgotten by the world, for the enchantress had erased all memories of them, memories of all but one.
Traveling back to her prince, Camille stopped at the village that she loved to visit before heading to the castle, only to find that no one remembers the prince and she can not find her beloved's home. Knowing that something had happened, Camille made a promise to herself to find out what happened. For, she convinced her father to let her marry the prince she loves and the rose that the enchantress gave the prince was truly an enchanted rose.
If the prince's one love came back and loved him for who he is now, by the time the last petal fell.....the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope, for he believed that his princess was wedded to another.
Why would his princess ever love a beast?
