"Run! Keep going!" Julien yelled as he dragged Killigan behind him.
"You-(cough)-need to leave me-(cough)-behind." Killigan managed to get out as a coughing fit overtook his body.
"No! I'm not leaving you! We'll make it together!" Julien yelled back at him.
"Well well. Isn't this sweet?" A man said as he walked in front of them.
Julien dropped Killigan onto the ground and spread his arms, creating a sheer force field around them. Just then, an army of men broke through the trees around them and surrounded Julien and Killigan.
"Come now, how long do you think you'll be able to keep that up?" The man asked, taunting Julien.
"Long enough to kill you." Julien snarled back.
"Oh you'll kill me?" The man asked before laughing and gesturing to the army surrounding them. "You and what army? You're severely outnumbered."
Killigan raised himself up and grabbed onto one of Julien's arms. "I've got this. I'll stay behind and distract them while you run." He whispered into Julien's ear.
"No! I told you we'll make it together." Julien said.
"As nauseatingly sweet as this is, why don't you join your mother? I'm sure she misses you in hell." The man said as he pulled a woman's head from under his cloak and raised it to show Julien.
Julien screamed and rushed towards him just as Killigan pulled him back from the arrows the army shot at them. Though many arrows were shot, none of them were able to pierce the force field Julien had made.
"I'll destroy you." Julien said with tears streaming down his face.
"We'll see." With a smirk, the man turned to the army and nodded.
The army started to shoot more arrows at the force field. Many soldiers ran to the force field with their swords drawn and tried to slash through it. Though, the more the army tried to break though, the stronger the force field got. Julien's rage and determination kept the army from breaking through.
"I won't let him take anyone else from me." Julien told Killigan.
"I know-(cough)- We just have to hold on a little longer." Killigan replied.
Julien turned his head to face Killigan. "You'll get through this. I promise." Julien said before his body jerked.
They both looked down to see an arrow sticking out from Julien's body. Julien started to cough up blood as he fell backwards into Killigan's arms.
"NO! No...No...No..." Killigan kept saying as he lowered Julien's body to the ground.
Killigan looked up to see the army had stopped trying to get through the force field. The soldiers stopped shooting their arrows, but now the man was holding a bow and some arrows.
"Crazy, isn't it? No matter the force we used, we couldn't get through," the man dropped the bow and arrows and picked back up the woman's head that he had dropped on the ground. "But apparently those who share blood can diminish each others power. This old bat was useful after all."
Slowly, the force field began to disappear as Julien's life was slipping away.
"You told me -(cough)- we would make it together. You can't go back-(cough)- on your word." Killigan said to Julien with tears in his eyes.
"Then please forgive me. I couldn't keep my word." Julien said before coughing up some more blood.
"Please don't leave me." Killigan said.
Julien grabbed his necklace and yanked it off before placing it in one of Killigan's hands.
"I promise, with all the Elderose blood left in my veins, we shall meet again. No matter the time, no matter the place, we will find each other again. Because I love you Killigan Blackwood, for all of my days and all of the lives I may have." Julien said before he pulled Killigan's face closer to his own and kissed him one last time. The force field finally vanished as Julien took his final breath.
"What are you waiting for? Kill him!" The man yelled at the soldiers, who were all moving further away from the man leaning over his lover.
Killigan looked up with eyes red as the fiery sun and the blood of his love smeared across his mouth. He stood without saying anything. Though his eyes seemed to tell of the thousands of ways he would end the man's miserable existence.
