To finish Stella's first day off, Leslie decided to take her to the Community Outreach Public Forum. Technically, a it is a city-wide meeting for the citizens to discuss certain topics.
"It's miserable in here," Stella complained, leaning back into her chair.
"It's not always this bad," Leslie smiled, looking to the brunette. "We're not always in some dingy elementary school classroom."
"Hallelujah," Stella whispered under her breath as she watched the room fill up. Five minutes later, Leslie was ready to begin.
"Thank you all for coming. My name is Parks Department Deputy Chairwoman Leslie Knope," the blonde spoke, sitting down onto a child's desk that quickly tipped over. A she quickly recovered and moved to sit on the teacher's desk, she heard Stella snicker behind her. "With me today is new department member Stella Hales."
Stella gave off a fake smile a raised her hand for a small, simple wave.
"Big turnout tonight! Very exciting!" Leslie exclaimed, smiling at the room full of mostly weirdos and old people. "So, fire away!"
A pretty brunette raised her hand, but an angry old man began to speak before she got the chance.
"I am here because of a crime that is happening right now all over this city that you people know about and do nothing to stop," he said, shouting.
"That's horrible," Leslie replied, shaking her head.
"Will you commit right now to helping me stop this crime?"
"Absolutely," the over-optimistic city government worker smiled. "We want to serve you in any way we can."
Stella shook her head in disgust at Leslie's naivete. How the hell is she gonna agree to help solve something that she doesn't even know about yet?
"Do you want me to tell you what the crime is?" The man finally asked.
"Yes," Leslie answered. "Please, tell me, so I can help you stop it. I don't understand why you're being so mysterious about this."
Here it comes, Stella thought, smirking.
"It's abortion."
Stella immediately spit out the iced coffee that was in her mouth an Leslie turned away from embarrassment.
"Abortion is legal, dude," Stella said, wiping her mouth.
"You promised to stop it!" He exclaimed, holding a recorder in the air. "I have it on tape!"
"Sir, first of all, that was a very mean trap," Leslie sighed, offended. "But more importantly, the city government doesn't have the ability to overturn a Supreme Court decision-"
"I think you could, if you weren't so lazy. Mayor Havlicek could."
Mayor Havlicek was a crotchety old man who was killed after being thrown out of a plane 20,000 feet in the air. To make things worse, he was in handcuffs.
For another fifteen minutes, cray regulars came in and talked about things that didn't matter. They were all so quick to jump up, yet the pretty brunette still had her hand raised.
As another man stood to speak, the brunette finally jumped up and spoke out.
"Hi. So, I'm Ann Perkins, and a few of us are here to talk about the abandoned lot on Sullivan Street."
"Alright, go on," Leslie instructed, not even noticing Stella paying close attention.
For a while now, Stella has been noticing how she's intrigued by a select few females, making her reconsider how straight she actually is.
