Chapter 14

Tessa's P.O.V

Everything's dark. I can't see anything.

" Am I dead," I whisper out loud.

" I guess you could say you're in the inbetween" I turn towards the familiar voice behind me.

Mom. Her beautiful long, red hair reaches her waist. I sprint over to her and hug the crap out of her. I inhale her strong, rosy perfume that she used to wear so much. I pull back and and she smiles sadly at me.

" Is this heaven?" She shakes her head at my guess.

I look around. Everything's a bright white. I'm not standing on anything. Yet I'm not floating either. I don't see anything. Yet all I see is Mom.

" You have a very important decision to make sweetheart." She looks off in the distance and looks back to me.

" Whatever choice you make... I'll always love you"
So many thoughts are going through my head right now. Is Amber safe? Are my friends safe? Is Xander dead?

" You can either stay with me forever...or you can go back to Earth and live your life," Mom lays it all out there.

Do I want to go back? If I stay, I'll never see my sister or friends again. But, if I go back I'll never see my mom again.

I meet Mom's bright blue eyes and make my choice.

Warren's P.O.V

Alex just got here after searching for Xander. We filled him in and he hasn't spoken to us since.

Tessa just got out of surgery. Turns out she had internal bleeding. They said that it went perfectly, but that she's in a coma. They don't know if she'll wake up.

The nurse comes out of Tessa's room and the boys and I stand up simultaneously. She looks at each of us in confusion.

" Can we visit her now," Jake asks the nurse smiling, flirting.

The young nurse giggles, twirling a piece of her hair and nods at Jake. I mentally face palm and wonder what Tessa saw in him. We all bust in the door some of us pushing each other out of the way.

" Holy sh*t," I breath out. The others murmur in agreement.

She's so pale. Tessa looks so small and fragile hooked up to those machines. I swallow the lump in my throat and kneel beside her, taking her small hand in mine.

" We should leave them alone," Andrew not so quietly whispers.

The others leave, Jake surprisingly left too. They shut the door behind them and I lay my head on the bed. I listen to her small breaths. A sign that she's alive. That she's not gone.

" Please don't leave me. I know that you probably can't hear me, but... I love you," I whisper in her ear.

Nothing. It's not like the movies or the books. No hand squeeze or miracle.

Suddenly, her monitor flatlines. Doctors come rushing in and I hang on to her hand. A security guard rips our hands apart.

" No!! Tessa!" I kick and scream and cry all at the same time. All the boys rush to me and bombard me with questions.

" Her.. heart..flatlined," I gasp in-between sobs. My first love is dying.

Alex's P.O.V

I fall to my knees when Warren tells me the news.
No, it can't happen again.
It just can't! I love her for god's sake.
The same thing happened with Alice.
I got close to her and then he took her away from me.
Come on Tessa, you can do this.
I'm not giving up on Tessa.
I'm not.

Jake's P.O.V

God no.
This isn't happening.
It's just a dream.
It has to be.
Tessa can't be dying!
She's the strongest person I know.
I'll fall apart without her.

Andrew's P.O.V

It wasn't supposed to go this far.
I knew I had made a milkshake when we got that video.
He said he wasn't going to hurt her.
Why did I listen to him?
He's just a liar.
It's all my fault.

Warren's P.O.V

" We did everything we could for you're loved one, but.." The doctor starts the speech we all dreaded.

When suddenly a nurse comes running from Tessa's room with news.
