The day of the meeting with the DTA Records team had started in a chaotic manner. Emma insisted on accompanying Jaden, claiming she wanted to be there to support him.
Travis Barker, the CEO of DTA Records and the drummer of the legendary band Blink-182, was an impressive man, with an aura that commanded respect. He welcomed Jaden with a big smile while only giving a glance to Emma.
A young blonde was already seated at the other end of the table, her portfolio neatly arranged in front of her. It seemed like everyone was waiting for Jaden around the large table. However, the boy wore a nonchalant look and had no desire to be present.
Maya presented her photos to the entire team while Jaden paid attention only to his phone.
"She's just an amateur; you can't work with her!" Emma whispered to Jaden.
"I don't want to either, but honestly, I think I don't have a choice," he replied, rolling his eyes.
"Are we bothering you?" Travis said, interrupting Maya's presentation.
"We were discussing the amateurishness of this girl; even I can take the same photos," Emma remarked, fixing her gaze on Maya.
"We're here to discuss Maya's work today. Your opinion doesn't matter to me, Emma. If you don't like it, the door is right behind you," he said, annoyed by the young woman's behavior.
Jaden, uncomfortable in this confrontation, turned his gaze to his phone as Maya continued her presentation confidently.
Maya, undisturbed by the incident, continued her demonstration. She passionately explained her artistic vision, how she captured emotions in each shot, and how she sought to convey a story through her photographs.
Travis Barker, captivated by the images and Maya's speech, couldn't deny the talent she exuded. He turned to the singer with a meaningful look, implying that this collaboration could be more beneficial than he had anticipated.
Later in the day, as Jaden and Emma headed home, Jaden's phone rang.
So, Maya had secured the contract with DTA Records, even though Jaden was reluctant to work with her. "She's too self-assured," he thought. The young man was very cautious about the people he associated with. Since his rather chaotic adolescence, he didn't trust many people.
Cooper was one of those people. This boy was handsome, always in a good mood when they were together. Jaden always said he was his soulmate. But he left, suddenly, without Jaden being able to say goodbye.

The day after her meeting with the DTA Records team, Maya met Luna at their favorite cafe, a place where they used to spend good times.
"So, how did your meeting with the label go? Is Travis as impressive in person?" Luna asked, curious to know more about her friend's experience.
"Oh, he's incredible! I'm so happy to have met him that I still can't believe it! But Jaden, on the other hand, is really..." Maya didn't have time to finish her sentence as her best friend interrupted her.
"Sorry? Jaden was there? Ah! I'm sure you finally changed your mind! This guy is really adorable, huh!"
"Not at all! He came late, with a completely superficial girl, a real leech on top of that! He was so unpleasant and didn't even greet me before leaving. He really thinks he's a star, even with his team. I think Travis was annoyed by his behavior; he told me he would talk to him about it," Maya recounted, still annoyed after the encounter with the young musician.
"I think he must have had a bad day; he's not like that, I'm sure!" Luna retorted.
Maya's phone vibrated, interrupting their conversation. Maya glanced at the screen and saw that she had received a message from Travis. Luna, curious, raised an inquisitive eyebrow.
"It's Travis. He's hosting a party at his place, and he wants me to come to celebrate the start of our collaboration," explained the young woman.
"WHAT?! I'm coming with you!" insisted her friend.
"No, no. I'm tired. I wouldn't go anyway; it's not my kind of party. And then, I hardly know anyone; what am I going to do all alone?" Maya argued.
She received a new notification from her boss and read it out loud to Luna. "You don't really have a choice anyway; we need a photographer tonight. You can bring someone to keep you company!"
"There you go, it's settled! Come on, hurry up; we have to go home and get ready," her friend insisted with enthusiasm.
Maya, though hesitant, finally accepted Travis' invitation to the celebration party. She felt both excitement and anxiety building within her. Luna, always enthusiastic, was determined to accompany her despite her friend's reservations.
Travis' party promised to be grand, but for Maya, it was also an opportunity to prove herself in this often demanding musical universe. She decided to choose an outfit that reflected her artistic style, opting for something casual yet elegant.
As they prepared, Luna couldn't help making cheerful comments and joking to lighten the mood. Maya, though grateful for her friend's presence, couldn't help but think back to the encounter with Jaden. He had clearly underestimated her, and it pushed her to want to prove her worth.
As the party kicked off at Travis', Jaden made his entrance, this time without the company of his superficial girlfriend.
