Larisa came out of the bath while drying her hair with a towel. She stopped in her tracks upon seeing the four girls in her room. The four servant girls froze like rigid statues when they saw her coming out of the bathroom, their heads lowered as they looked at each other in distress. Didn't they say that the princess would still be dancing at this time and they could come and leave the food and leave quickly and they won't even have to meet her?

Larisa slowly moved closer to them, a fair hand opened the lid of one of the bowls and looked at the food before closing it again in disinterest, same old breakfast.

The girls each subconsciously slowed their breathing when she checked each of their trays of food, all they could hear was her slow but steady footsteps as she moved around checking each tray and the occasional clinking sound that the porcelain covers made as they were lifted then placed back in their place.

Larisa didn't miss the slight trembling of their hands no matter how much they tried feigning calmness.

"They're scared of us, they think of us as a monster, doesn't that anger you," The voice in her head whispered.

Larisa observed the girl's expressions. None of them reacted like they heard a voice out of thin air. She turned a deaf ear to the voice as she asked in a quiet voice, "why is it you who brought the food, where is Lifar."

Lifar was her head maid and also the only maid who didn't tremble in her presence.

To the girls, the soft voice coming from the rumoured demoness princess only felt like the sweet whisperings of a devil before it takes your soul. Their hearts beat faster, sweat covered their palms and they trembled more visibly. One girl carrying soup couldn't hold the tray with her shaking and sweaty hands and dropped the tray and soup.

The sound of breaking porcelain mixed with splashing water filled the silent room, the hot soup splashed on Larisa's legs, searing them. Larisa didn't even wince at the burning sensation, it was nothing compared to what she has gone through before.

"She hurt us, kill her, why won't you kill her! Grab and strangle her neck until it snaps!"

Larisa winced at the sudden scream that filled her head, this was the first time the voice spoke so loudly.

The servant girl peered up and met glowing blood red orbs like something straight out of a nightmare, her knees weakened and her soul left her body. She fell to her knees, followed by the other girls.

The girl kowtowed with her hands and forehead hitting the floor as she insistently pleaded, "please pardon me princess, it waswasn't my-my-my intention to-to--." She went on to bang her forehead on the floor, "please don't kill me, please don't kill me,"

Larisa stepped forward in-order to help the girl stand up but she only became more scared as she clawed away in frenzy and banged her head harder and continued to beg for mercy. At this late, she would kill herself before Larisa even decided if she wanted her killed or not.

"Why don't you kill her, you've done it before anyway," the voice insisted, "They think of you as a monster, be the monster they paint you to be and kill her,"

No, Larisa vigorously shook her head, it was an accident, she never wanted to hurt anybody. Kill her, Kill her, Kill her. The words constantly repeated in her head like a mantra, Larisa glanced at the floor, a pool of blood had stared to appear at the place where the girl's head made contact with the floor, her eyes contracted and she took hasty steps back, Kill her.

"Enough!" Larisa yelled as she took deep breaths.

The three other girls lowered their heads more while the girl who was banging her head fell to the side, unconscious.

Larisa turned to walk away while she said in a shaky voice, "take your friend and the food away and get someone to clean this mess up," she just lost her appetite.

What she didn't see was the blood on the floor disappearing after she turned away. She went into her dressing room and sat in-front of the mirror.

"Form is no other than emptiness and emptiness no other than form, form is only emptiness, emptiness only form, Form is no other than emptiness and emptiness no other than form, form is only emptiness, emptiness only form," she repeated this mantra a few times while she stared intently at her glowing eyes in the mirror.

She repeated the mantra again and only stopped when the voice in her head became silent.

This mantra was taught to her by her mother when she was young, her mother told her to say it when she had evil thoughts.

At that time she didn't understand the reason, but now that she does, she wishes her mother was still around to help her understand why these strange things were happening to her.

The voice in her head became silent, Larisa looked around at the huge silent room, it was filled to the brim with all sorts of beautiful and luxurious things, but it left hollowness inside of her.

She raised her pale white hand and covered the red eyes in the mirror and for a moment she forgot about the feature that separates her from the rest of the world. She had always thought she was just like everyone else, that she just had different coloured eyes than the rest.

But from the day that the strange voice appeared in her head, everything changed and she couldn't find a branch to hold on to and take a breath to process all of this.

She had no one to turn to who could explain what was happening to her or what caused this, she couldn't even some up enough courage to tell someone about it, what would happen if people knew about this, then the rumour about her being a monster would be made true, but at this point, wasn't she one already.

Larisa looked thoughtfully at the book sitting on her bedside table as she passed by her bed while leaving her room.
