If the King asked for your body,
You should be willing to give it to him without question.
And if the King asked you to marry him,
You should be ready to become his Kween. These words echoed in Jungkook's mind like a haunting refrain, repeating over and over, as if they were some unspoken law. His body tensed with every thought of them. He couldn't shake the weight of those words, nor could he understand why they had come to him at this moment.
Jungkook didn't even know how he ended up here. He had been standing next to the King, as always, when Namjoon had silently led him into the King's private chambers. It was a place Jungkook had never thought he'd be. Tonight was different. Tonight, the King had requested his dinner to be served not in the royal dining room, but in his own personal bedroom. They were eating together, alone. Just the two of them.
But the atmosphere was strange. The King-Seokjin-wasn't speaking. There were no smiles, no gestures of acknowledgment. No praises, no stares of approval or disapproval.
The King was silent. Jungkook found himself unnerved by the lack of his usual presence. He could feel the tension, the heaviness of unspoken words. He ate, but the food tasted bland, overshadowed by the strange quiet that seemed to engulf the room.
Jungkook kept glancing at Seokjin, unsure of how to behave. The King's demeanor had changed so much from the last time they had shared a meal together. He had always been kind, always engaging in conversation, always making Jungkook feel like his presence mattered. But now, there was only stillness.
He couldn't help it. His gaze wandered back to Seokjin. The King had barely moved, his eyes focused on his food, but there was something so distant in them.
The King, as if sensing Jungkook's gaze, slowly wiped the corner of his lips with a cloth before placing it down on the table. His eyes lifted, and for the first time that evening, he met Jungkook's stare.
"Prince Taehyung..." Seokjin's voice was softer than Jungkook had ever heard it, tinged with something that sounded like sorrow. "Killed my mother."
Jungkook froze. His fork clattered softly against his plate, but his mouth hung open, words failing him. Taehyung? His protector, his savior-how could this be true? His mind raced, trying to process what Seokjin had just said.
Seokjin set down his utensils, his posture slumping slightly, as if the weight of his words had drained him of all energy. There was an unmistakable sadness in his expression, one that Jungkook had never seen on the King's face before.
"Prince Taehyung killed your mother? Your majesty what are you talking about?" Jungkook repeated, almost unable to believe it. His voice cracked with the disbelief. "But... why? How?"
The King sighed deeply, staring at his hands for a moment as if the answer were too painful to say aloud.
"He's my father's younger brother," Seokjin continued.
"His mother belonged to the Blue Moon. Before I was crowned as a King, my father sent Prince Taehyung to slay the Princess of the Mystique Moon-someone only Prince Taehyung could reach. His powers were the only ones strong enough to break the shield of the Mystique Green Moon."
Jungkook's mind was spinning, but he kept quiet, his heart pounding. His thoughts tried to follow the story, but there were so many pieces that didn't fit.
Seokjin's voice grew quieter. "My mother was there that day, helping her friend-the Princess of the Mystique Moon. The most beautiful princess in all of Ephipanea... People called her-"
"Jungwah?" Jungkook interrupted, his breath catching in his throat. The name The King use to call him, strange.
Seokjin's eyes softened with an almost imperceptible sadness as he nodded.
"Yes, Jungwah. She was the most fairest Princess of all... My mother loved her like a sister."
