He kept looking at me. I kept looking at him. His eyes were soft at first and then I saw his face turn blank and disheartened. Have I done something wrong already?

"Ah, there she is" the doctor greeted me grandly, arms extended he came to me and wrapped me up in a safe hug.

"How are you feeling?" he looked directly into my orbs "Dr..?"

"It's quite alright, Dr. Van Guyer" he smiled as I remembered

I nodded and spoke honestly "As good as I can feel"

"Great, thank you Mandy for your help" he acknowledged and she swiftly smiled, gave me a hug and left the room.

"Now, that we are all here, I know this may be awkward for you" he gestured to both of us "Please, have a seat"

I kept quiet. I didn't know what to say, I just wanted to observe this moment and think about how I can be well prepared in the future. Whatever this new future is?

"Now, I am going to go over some basic information with you and if at any point, you become overwhelmed, you just tell me to stop? Okay?" Dr. Van Guyer informed. I nodded in agreement awaiting to hear, what I guess is the brief synopsis of my life thus far.

"Your name is Dayna Marie Wilder, born Dayna Marie LaCarte from Queens, New York. You are 31 years old and you are married to Robert DeWight Wilder. You have one mother, your father passed away when you were 7 years old" hearing that information made me wince but I continued to observe.

"You have two siblings, one older, Vanessa and one younger, Neil both born to the same parents. You have a good friend named Naiari Spencer. You are a commercial real estate agent here in the city. And you have no children" if I could not be fooled, I could've sworn out the corner of my eye, I could see my husband - who is Robert? - turn away when the doctor explains the last part. But I couldn't pay it any mind right now.

"Wow, seems as though I have a pretty full life" I said more to myself with a small smile

"Agreed and more intimate details of your life, you can ask those closest to you like the people who I have named. Like your husband here?" He points his pen and we both look at each other.

He is so ruggedly handsome that I couldn't believe that he wasn't something straight out of a movie or magazine and this was all just a prank. His eyes were so deep brown that they almost glowed. His skin was without a flaw, as chocolate as it could be, I admired everything about him thus far. His lips so full, beard healthy and thick just let me know that we both take pride in our self-grooming and self-care.

He gave me a short smile, seemed more so to break the awkwardness in the room. I did notice that he did not try to embrace me once or hold my hand. Were we not in a good space when the accident happened? Were we separated? I just know I wasn't going to ask the questions until the time is right.

"Now, I have a prescription for you to help with sleep because nightmares are common when trying to remember" he pulled off a script of paper from his clipboard, handing it to my husband..who's name I just forgot even though the doctor just said it "Also, a prescription for internal swelling and pain because you are still experience some bruising. Lastly" he pulled out a small notebook

"This is your memory journal, anything that you can remember, a smell, a name, or anything from that particular night. I want you to write all down here? Okay? The police will be in touch with in a week and we want to be able to give them something"

We both nodded and agreed

"So, Dayna" he said gesturing us both up, I assume this meeting was about to be over "Just keep rested, no working at all, and just try to get back into the swing of life these next five weeks, maybe you will discover something new" he gleamed
