Chapter 4

I returned home and climbed into bed, utterly drained from the events of the day. I fell asleep instantly, but suddenly, I was jolted awake by something warm breathing on my face. It was the beast again.

"Wakey wakey, Hanny," it purred, stroking my long red hair.

"Get out," I demanded.

"Never let him kiss you again," the beast warned cryptically, its large eyes locking onto mine. "I know you more than you think, and I'm always watching."

"I don't even know your name!" I retorted, trying to pull away from its touch.

"Oh, silly Hanny, it's Ashton," he revealed, his hand moving down my face.

"Stop touching me," I said, pushing him away.

"Never."

I stood up, but he forcefully pressed me against the wall. A devilish smile crossed his face as he kissed me, a kiss that left me breathless, as if we were both on fire. It was an unfamiliar, yet strangely warm sensation.

He eventually pulled away, and I struggled to catch my breath. "You disgusting mutt dog!" I exclaimed as I watched him transform back into his wolf form and escape through my window.

Carlos entered my room and stared at me with suspicion. "Who was in here, Hannah?"

"Nobody," I lied, knowing it was futile.

"Hannah, don't you dare lie to me!" he shouted, his eyes turning red.

I couldn't help but mutter, "What's happening?" while gazing into his eyes.

He cornered me. "Don't play with me."

"It was a wolf," the words escaped my lips unintentionally.

Carlos attempted to grab me, but suddenly, my window shattered, and there stood Ashton. His grey fur bristled, and his eyes glowed red, revealing his true nature as a vampire.

Ashton growled at Carlos, who began to advance menacingly. "Stop, Carlos, this isn't like you. You're better than this," I pleaded.

Ignoring me, Carlos continued his approach. Then, Ashton transformed back into his human form, grabbing me protectively.

"You can't stay here," Ashton growled, his grip on me firm.
