Clanging sounds could be heard coming from the workshop, as Jack was hammering away on the sword he was trying to forge. He was having such a horrible time with this one. "Ugh, come on!" Jack yelled as he hit the hammer again. "Why did that lady have to commission me the hardest sword to forge?!" He yelled out as he dropped the hammer. He wiped his forehead and looked down at the ground a the mess he had made. There was a total of 6 unfinished and broken swords all over the ground. "Ugh, I'm such a shit weaponsmith..." He grunted, then walked over to the other side of the room. He stayed silent for a bit, staring at the wall.
"Maybe if I add more heat, I'll be able to bend the metal better..." He said out loud to himself. But then, he heard a hollow rumble. He blinked and looked down. "My stomach..." He mumbled, rubbing it. It growled more and he felt his belly vibrating underneath his hand. He squeezed his belly. "Geez, I'm hungry...." He went into his kitchen to check if he had food, a frown grew on his face when he saw he had nothing to eat, due to him not going shopping this week.
"Ugh just great!" Jack grunted. He hadn't done any shopping because he'd been cooped up inside making orders for people. He's been burning through his kitchen eating fruit, and other things he had to cook, not remembering that he had to restock. He sighed. "I really should hire a helper..."
He didn't want to leave the project unfished, but he needed to eat or else his growling stomach was just going to continue to growl, and give him hunger pains.
He was about to leave, to head to the shop just down the street, but then he heard a knock on the door.
"Oh no..." He grumbled as he heard it. "It better not be someone placing another order..." He sighed as he walked towards the door. He took a sigh before he opened it.
But to his surprise... he saw no one.
"Huh? Hello?" He called out, looking left and right. He saw no one. "Anyone?"
He blinked confused, "Probably one of them dumb kids," He sighed and was about to close the door. His eyes looked down before he had shut the door, and saw a box on the ground.
He blinked. He sighed. "Great... Someone drooped off an order and ran-," He bent over and picked it up. "And just when I thought I was in the clear," He opened the wooden box, only to have a bright glow hit his eyes. "Ow-!" He gasped for a moment and squinted his eyes. He looked closer as his eyes adjusted. "Wha-," His eyes widened a bit, and then he looked up, then to his right and to his left. He blinked, then slowly backed into his house, holding the box, then shut the door.
He stayed frozen for a moment, then looked down at the box in his hands. He opened it up and saw it again...
Golden beans. Shiny, and bright, with magic glistening in them.
"No way, these are a legend..." He said taking one out. He studied them. "Legend says... if you plant them they'll grow an endless amount of beans..." He placed the bean back in the box. "Who gave me this?" His face fell into confusion at this. Most of everyone in this village is poor. Only a few residents have anything magic.
"Well, I guess I don't have to go to the store..." He spoke as he turned around. "I'll plant these in my garden,"
He walked out to his back garden and then dug out a spot of dirt, he was planning to plant some tomato seeds. But the tomatoes can wait. He dug the spot out, and threw in a few of the beans, then covered it up, then got his watering can, and wet the spot.
At first, nothing happened.
"Hm," He said. He bent down towards the ground where he planted the beans. "It's magic, shouldn't it have-," There was a loud rumble, as the ground gave away, and something green shot out of the ground, and slammed into Jack's face.
