Chapter 1: Awake

Lucy woke up with a start, slamming her forehead against the bone-chilling steel on the inside of her cryopod. She pulled the lever at the top of the pod causing it to open with a subtle hiss as fog fled from the inside of the cold, steel coffin. She stepped out of the pod slowly and lightly placed her foot on the metal floor that was warm in comparison to the cold insides of her cryopod. She lightly rubbed the lump on her forehead causing a dull ache. She put on her jumpsuit that she found in her designated locker in front of the cryopod. She walked out of the cold, white room of the cryochambers and into the dull grey hallways of the massive colony ship ,Eden, that was headed towards an exoplanet approximately 40 lightyears away from her old home, Earth. She made her way to the medical room to report that she had awoken from deep sleep. As she walked into the room she saw a slobby, plump man in a dirty jumpsuit much like hers except that his had stains all over it.
"Hmmmm?" The slob grunted at the sight of Lucy walking through the automated door with her long, red hair tied into a ponytail at the back of her head.
"What do you mean, 'Hmmmm'" Lucy questioned.
"Hmmmm. As in your early. No one is supposed to wake up for another 25 days." Slob answered
"How can I be 25 days off schedule?"
"Hell if I know I'm just part of the damned skeleton crew that makes sure nothing goes wrong here"
"Yea, thanks, I know what skeleton crews are"
"No need to get snippy, princess, most civilians on this trip are deadbeats that can't do simple addition"
"Well I can assure you, I'm no deadbeat"
"The names William Potter, I'm the head doctor here."
"I thought you were part of the skeleton crew?" Lucy asked "My names Lucy Stacy by the way."
"Who said I cant do two things at once? And what the hell kind of a last name is Stacy" Will jabbed
"Its my last name dick." Lucy growled.
"Calm down, calm down. Just pokin' some fun is all." Will laughed. "Anyway, sign here." Will pointed to a line on a piece of paper and shoved Lucy a pen.
"Are we gonna do anything about this '25 days early' ordeal?" Lucy worried.
"Why bother? Nothings wrong with you that I can tell" Will shrugged.
Lucy left the room and thought about how to waste 25 days
