𝒄𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒊𝒏'𝒔 𝑷𝑶𝑽

𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀 regular morning at home and i had woken up about 30 minutes ago. i was in my living room on the couch watching my basketball highlights. i've loved basketball ever since i was able to walk. i played other sports too, but i never got into them like i did with basketball.

i had been watching my highlights for a little while until i heard the doorbell ring. i waited a little bit, thinking that it might've been a person at the wrong house until someone started banging on the door and saying, "aye, let me in this bitch!"

my ears recognized the voice and i immediately realized that it was my brother. i leap off of the couch and rush towards the door and quickly opened it, revealing my older brother cam. "CAM!" i wrap my arms around him almost knocking him over.

despite me and cam being 8 years apart, we are super close. i don't get to see him much anymore now that he has his own aau team. i keep telling him to make a girls team but he never follows through with it.

"jesus christ, caitlin it's only been 2 weeks." he said, hugging me back.

"yeah, 2 weeks too long. it's so boring here on my own." i say, letting go. "and i miss beating your ass in 1v1."

"aye let's not do too much now. you know i cook you in every 1v1 we do."

i laugh and walk back towards the living room.

"what you watching?" cam said, plopping down next to me.

"my basketball highlights." i said, keeping my attention on the tv as i watched myself shoot a clean 3.

"speaking of basketball! while i was away at the dallas aau tournament, i peeped a few girl aau teams." his words peaked my interest so i paused my film and averted my attention towards him.

"and?"

"and me and two of my star players have decided that we were gonna put together a girls aau team."

my jaw drops a little and i don't say anything for about 10 seconds.

"and you're gonna be the first person on the team." he finishes.

i stare at him blankly for another 10 seconds and then broke out into screams and squeals.

"oh my gosh, fucking FINALLY!" i say dramatically, making cam side eye me. "what? don't look at me like that, i'm happy."

"you been in the lab right?" cam asked, shoving my shoulder.

i scoff and return the gesture. "duh, i'm always in the lab. when do we start?"

"well we leave today in about... 3 hours for new york and new jersey. boy tryouts are today and girl tryouts are tomorrow along with the first and second game of the boys' tournament. " he smiles and nods at me, turning towards the kitchen.

"i'm sorry, WHAT!?" i say, running into the kitchen where he was located.

"yeah so you better go pack right now, twin." he patted my shoulder and i ran to my room to pack my things.

"HOW LONG ARE WE STAYING!?" i yelled from my room.

"PACK SHIT FOR ONE WEEK!" cam yelled back.

i do as said and lets just say my suitcase was packed to the brim... i pick out a basic outfit before hopping in the shower and packing the rest of my necessities. i hear 5 loud knocks on my bathroom door followed by a voice saying, "hurry up cait, we have to pick up jay jack in a couple minutes."

i furrow my eyebrows. who tf is jay jack? i shrug that off and finish packing. once i'm finally done, i walk out and see my brother standing at the front door.

"finally, i almost left yo ass." he said impatiently.

"shut up." i say, rolling my eyes and walking out the front door as he follows behind me.

i see a black SUV in the driveway with someone in the drivers seat.

"fancy." i say, hopping in the back.

"first we're gonna go pick up jay jack and then head to the airport. once we touch down in new york, we'll meet my star players and my camera man at the airport there."

i nod my head and turned my focus towards the window. i never knew much about cams aau team since i was always focused on my own. i watched a little of bit their past aau tournaments but never really paid a whole lot of attention. i became bored in my thoughts so i got on my phone and opened instagram, posting a story about how my brother finally made a girls aau basketball team.

i'm not gonna say i'm super famous, but i'm kinda well known since cam wilder IS my brother. i smile to myself, turning my phone off and shutting my eyes.

"aye get your ass up and let's get on this plane."

my eyes shoot open and i see cam standing over me with another guy as they both look at me. "caitlin, this is jay jack. jay jack, this is my sister caitlin."

i stare at them with squinted eyes and wave back slowly. "when did he get here?"

"well we picked him up while your ass was back here slumped!"

i roll my eyes and then yawn. "how long is the flight gonna be?"

"not too long, so you can just go to sleep on the plane too." cam said, helping me out of the car.

"okay good because i'm so tired and-"

"i was kidding. you're staying up and staying locked the fuck in." he nods at me and i sigh dramatically, going to retrieve my suitcase from the trunk.

we walk into the airport and make way to put our bags in the luggage station and then head to board our plane.

"you excited lil sis?" cam asked as we got seated.

"for basketball? yes. to ride a plane? fuck no."

jay and cam both laugh at me as i securely put the plane seat belt on. the flight attendant explains the boring flight rules as i put my headphones on and turn on some music. after a few minutes, the plane starts to take off and i take a deep breath.

this should be a nice experience.
