Selah walk through the castle that was dark. Not dark where she can't see but enough for her not to run into anyone. She couldn't sleep and though some fresh air would do her some good.
She walk through a backdoor and find herself in a beautiful garden filled with red roses. It was a full moon so everything looks magical.
"Couldn't sleep?"
"Your Majesty."
"Don't bow Selah. Just call me Kellam."
"We don't need each other that well Your Majesty."
Kellam grip her chin but not hard enough to hurt her.
"I'm not King."
"You're wearing a crown."
"A crown doesn't make a man a king."
"No a crown shows that a man can lead."
He released her chin and step back.
"You're rather troubled your Majesty. Maybe some sleep will do you good."
Kellam look up at the sky with a lot of unanswered questions. Being immortal is a curse. Being able to live for centuries isn't a luxury. He was convinced be was doomed to be alone.
"Are you OK?"
"You should get some sleep. Don't women need their beauty sleep?"
A smile lit up her face. "We do but I'm not going to leave you wandering alone."
"Who said I'm alone? I have the insects and plants."
"You're crazy but funny." She chuckle and stroke a rose. "These are beautiful."
"Beautiful indeed."
"You don't seem thrill about them." She straighten and turn to him.
"That's how many Queens I've lost Selah."
Selah looks at the entire garden. It was covered with red roses.
"How old are you?"
"Thousands of year old. I honestly stop counting."
"It can't be easy losing so much."
"They always died on the second day. I never asked for them and yet they show up. You've just become another in the batch."
"It's going to take more than a curse to get rid of me."
"Alot of them said that."
"This atmosphere is depressing. Let's us go to bed."
"Us?"
"You need sleep Your Majesty."
"Kellam."
"Your Majesty."
"You like annoying me don't you?"
"A little bit."
For the first time in forever a smile was on his face.
Selah yawn as they walk up the cobblestone stairs.
"Be careful Selah. Bad thing happen around here."
"You're stuck with me Your Majesty."
He stop at her room and she open the door. "Thank your for keeping my company Your Majesty. It was a pleasure spending time with you. Maybe we can do it more in the future."
"Maybe. Good night."
"Good night."
