Chapter 2. We failed?

Celestia's horn lit up with magic as she raised the bright sun. Ponies all over Equestria waking up and starting their day. But there was one pony unaccounted for.

Twilight

She was last seen entering a hotel in Canterlot, but nobody has seen or heard from her since...

Princess Celestia was informed of the battle that took place in the crystal empire, and she was told of the passing of Twilights companion. She sent out search parties to find twilight, but it was as if she had just vanished. The hotel and all of its rooms were searched, but the only thing that was found was a note book.

Inside of the book were pages filled with detailed drawings, of places within Equestria, of ponies and friends of Twilight, there were a few pages with only drawings of Spike. But the last drawing in the book caused concern within the guards. It was a large drawing that spanned across both pages. It was very detailed drawing of King Sombra...

"Where did you find this?!" Her voice boomed, filled with worry and fear

The guards explained their search, and showed The princesses the notebook. Celestia recognized the book as Twilights, but was curious as to why she wouldn't have it on her. Cadance had travelled from the empire to help search for her sister, and although her efforts to stay calm, she had barely slept.

Celestia and Luna had given her a room in the palace to let her rest, but her concern for her sister-in-law got in the way of any attempt to relax or sleep.

"Sister.. Tonight, I want you to find Twilight through her dreams." Celestia said into Lunas ear, as she started to walk out of the throne room

Luna nodded, and the princesses each went off to do different tasks. Celestia went to sign off letters and put out more search patrols, Luna went to sleep and tried gain as much energy as she would need for her nightly duties, and Cadance went to visit Twilights friends

It had only been 2 days, but still they were all worried. Cadance walked through the streets of Ponyville, getting praise and love from all its inhabitants. She finally made it to the golden oak library, where they had all been staying. She rung the doorbell, and waited for someone to answer

"Princess!! Please, come on in" Applejack welcomed her

"You know you guys don't have to call me that, you can just call me Cadance." She smiled

They let her in, and all said hello and graced her with hugs. This was just as difficult for her as it was for them.

The girls all sat around drinking tea and eating snacks, and they all spoke about how they had been and what they thought of the situation. They were all talking about what they think happened to Twilight and where she might be.

"What if she was kidnapped by somepony??" Rarity cried

"Maybe she couldn't deal with Spikes death and she went to join him..." Muttered Rainbow Dash

"Twilight is a strong gal, so I am certain that she's alive." AppleJack Protested

"I think she is just getting ready for a party to make everyone feel better!"

"Pinkie..."

The pink ponies feeble attempt to raise everyponies spirits had backfired. They all looked down, not knowing what to say. Pinkie just wanted everypony to smile for once, but it was clearly too early.

"I think that princess Luna is going to attempt to find Twilight through the dream world tonight." Cadence managed to say, "I'm not too certain on the details though"

All around the table, the faces of the ponies lit up, maybe there was hope of finding their best friend! Their tea had gone cold so Rarity went to fetch more, but as she disappeared into the kitchen, everyone heard a blood curdling scream. They all got up and ran to where Rarity was. She had dropped all the cups and the teapot onto the floor and was staring out the window with a horrified face, tears in her eyes.
