{I MISS HER}

"Do you think your father is doing this on purpose?"
Zanzia asked swirling one of her hair strands.
We walked through the forest heading to the lake that was a few minutes away from the palace.That was the place where Zanzia and I use to hang out every day since we were seven.
We got through the forest and walked downward till we were by the lake.The view still took my breath away even though I've been here a hundred times.

"What do you mean?"
I asked sitting on the rock as she sat next to me,

"I mean you father marrying you...do you think he is doing it so he can create a bigger alliance?"
I thought for a moment,staring at the line that connected the sky and water.
My father was one of the most powerful royal bloods so why would he create new alliances, especially with the Floridians,those royals are nothing but greedy thieves,all they want is gold and jewel's.

"I don't know but I know one thing...his planning something..."

"We just have to find out what..."
I looked at Zanzia knowing that she loves doing these type of things and even though I don't want anything to do with my father's plans,I still am curious.

"Guess we have to"
I said and Zanzia snapped her head to me with a huge smile spreading on her face.
She pushed me a bit and I almost fell off the rock while she burst into laughter and apologizing.

"I'm so sorr-"
I pushed her back harder and she fell backwards into the water.I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt,

"I'm so sorry Zaz!"
I screamed still laughing,she got up and splashed water into my face making me fall into the water aswell.
We both laughed splashing each other with water until our dresses were soaking wet.
We laid on the grass as the sun dried our wet clothes,it was so warm,so peaceful,the scent of lavender danced in the air around us,reminding me of when my mother took me to the meadow for the first time,it was just like this,exactly like this.
I smiled as I felt a tear slide down my cheek,it soon turned into sobbing that I couldn't control,

"Tavi what's wrong?"
Zanzia asked sitting up and facing me, rubbing off the tear from my cheek.
I nodded chuckling a bit and smiling at her,her face held confusion and worry.

"I miss her Zaz...I really miss my mother..."
I said closing my eyes so that the tears could stop falling.
Zanzia pulls my head onto her lap and rubs my head,she starts humming a song that I recognized,my mom use to sing for me before bed every night.
I look up to meet her dark mysterious blue eyes and she smiles,

"H-how did you know that song?"
I asked her,she moved my hair out of my face,

"Whenever I walked through the hallways to the kitchen at night, I'd stop by your bedroom door and hear your mom sing it to you..."
She says looking back at me.
I smiled holding her hand remembering how my mom would sing that song at night for me because I couldn't sleep.

"Thanks Zaz...I don't know what I'd do without you...you really remind me of her"
I say looking at her seeing her eyes widen a bit,a tear escaping.I chuckle a bit wiping the tear,

"I didn't know the goddess of war could cry...guess she has a soft spot for me..."
I say smirking when she lightly slaps my hand.
I sit up straight facing her.

"Let's keep this between us ok..."
She says and I broke into a laugh and so does she,such a serious person in front of others but when you see her like this,it's just too adorable.

We spent a few more minutes at the lake before heading back to the palace late afternoon.
We walked through the doors to find maids and guards running around, decorations everywhere,tables set in the middle.
I looked at Zanzia, confusion written all over her face.I made my way through the crowds of maids and up the stairs looking for my father.
I stopped at his office door knocking on it,hearing him say enter I open the door entering the room.
I nod to Zaz to wait for me outside before closing the door.

"Father may you explain what is the situation with decorations happening in the hall is about?"
I asked sitting down Infront of his desk facing him.

"There is to be a ball tonight in celebration of your marriage,all the royals will be coming from around the country...including the Fandias Monoias royals."
He said.
My body froze,I expected myself to feel angry or something but all I'm thinking about is why my father is even allowing them to enter the palace when they are enemies.

"Father...since when do you get along with the Fandias?"
I asked still looking down,he turned looking at me,

"Since I decided your marriage... It's time for a change Octavia,we need alliances, especially now since you are close to becoming queen,many enemies far worse than the Fandias are targeting our kingdom so we need to built our alliances..."
I looked up at him in disbelief,

"Is that what you thought of aswell when mother died?"
I said,he's eyes darkened and he turned around facing the fire place.
I got up heading for the door,

"The maids got your dress ready... guest will be arriving three hours from now,make sure you're ready by then..."
He said,I stood there for a second before walking out.
'Just unbelievable...'
I thought getting to my room and slamming the door close.
I saw the dress sitting on my bed,I walked over to it,tracing my fingers on it.
'Tonights going to be an interesting night...let's see how good of an act I can put on...'
