"are you sure you still wanna go out? i don't mind staying back here with you and some ice cream." lando offered ari.

"no, lan, it's your night. don't let me ruin it. i wanna get out, get my mind off this." she placed a hand on his shoulder.

"you won't ruin it, ari. you're my best friend. you can't ruin anything." he smiled.

"come on, let's get out!" she ushered him out of her hotel room door.

they had finally managed to find the club that the rest of the drivers were at, after quite a few wrong turns through the dwindling roads.

upon entry, ariana dragged lando to the bar. he wasn't as keen on drinking as he had to drive them home, but let her go as crazy as she wanted. he got a lone red bull, whereas she went straight in for a few shots.

she took four, then noticed max walking towards the bar. her hand waved sloppily, beckoning him over.

"hey max!" she yelled over the pounding bass. "congratulations on your win!"

"thanks, ari." he grinned widely. "lando, i see your red bull there. love to know that you're supporting us." he joked, trailing into conversation.

"hey, ari!"

ariana turned her head and realised kelly had followed him to the bar.

"kelly!" she threw her arms around the older woman, making her lose her balance slightly.

"you smell drunk, wow, how much have you had?" kelly commented.

"three? four? i'm not sure." she tried to count on her fingers, but she saw eight on her hand. "but i've missed you! i didn't even get to see you in bahrain!"

"i know! how's everything been? how's the new man?" she winked.

ariana's face dropped. "oh, not so good right now. we've just had an argument. he didn't watch the race, he said he was too busy, then he complained about me being too emotional about it." she recounted.

"i'm sorry." kelly hugged the blonde. "i'm sure you two can work things out, or break it off if you need to."

"i want it to work out. i really do." tears brimmed in her eyes.

"oh, baby. don't cry." kelly pulled her in for another hug.

lando noticed the scene, and stepped over to where ariana was.

"hey, what's up?" he rubbed her back, whispering in her ear.

"i don't wanna lose him, lan." she turned her head to face her best friend.

"if he's worth it, he'll prove it. if he's not, it's better if you get out quicker. you can talk to me about anything, you know." he consoled.

kelly passed her over to lando, letting her rest her head on his shoulder.

"let's get you back to the hotel, should we?" he spoke into her hair.

"no, lan, it's your night."

"fuck my night. i don't feel right partying when my best friend is hurting. seeing you sad makes me sad. that twin telepathy stuff, i feel your pain or whatever." he cracked a joke, pulling a stifled laugh from ariana.

she sniffled. "alright. let's get back. i wanna sleep. i've been awake for too long."

this time, the tables had turned. lando was the one taking care of ariana, and he struggled much less than she did as she was much smaller than him.

she could walk, so he supported her as they walked into her hotel lobby. she rested her head on the elevator wall, trying to stop the pounding.

"my head hurts." she slurred.

"you've had a bit too much to drink, i think. come on, let's look after you." he reassured, walking her from the elevator to her room, as it was closer than his.

he took her straight to the bathroom, taking off her makeup with the wipes he found in her bag.

he took her to her bed, sitting her down.

"you can't go to sleep just yet, ari. you have to get changed." he spoke softly.

"sick." was all she said.

lando panicked, picking her up and taking her to the toilet, holding her hair up as he sat her down on the floor in front of it.

after she had finished vomiting, she turned around, panting, leaning against the bathroom wall, lando gagging as he flushed the toilet.

"oh, fuck, i've just completely cleared myself out." she breathed out.

"well, brush your teeth, and then come in and get changed. i'm gonna change while you're in here, call me if you need anything." he said, walking out the bathroom.

when she entered the bedroom again, she saw lando in one of his pyjama pants that she had borrowed from him, and no shirt.

"i've left you some stuff out to wear, take your pick." he told her, sitting down on the sofa on the other side of the room.

"turn around, i have to change." she instructed.

he stood up, facing away from her to give her some privacy.

"genuine question, what's the difference between you wearing underwear and a bikini? seems like the latter is great for going out but you can't wear underwear in public." he asked.

"the difference, lando, is that no one sleeps with a bra on." she explained.

"i didn't know that. but you didn't answer my question."

"i don't know? underwear is specifically made to wear under your clothes, but bikinis are made as an outerwear clothing piece?" she guessed.

"good enough answer for me." he shrugged.

"right, i'm done." she told him, and he turned back around to face her. "come on, then."

he walked over to the bed, getting in on the opposite side to her. they met in the middle of the mattress, finding the most comfortable spot.

"goodnight, lan." she whispered, his face inches from hers.

"goodnight, ari." he whispered back.
