Derek

I arrived back at my flat with Nyx in my arms. She was still asleep, but her body temp had returned to normal. I took her upstairs to my room and laid her down on the bed. She sighed and I covered her up. I turned to look at the mirror in my room. I brought my wolf to the surface and gasped. My eyes were the red of an Alpha. I looked over at Nyx. She was sleeping peacefully in my bed. Did she give me the power of an Alpha? Did she choose me or was I just the first wolf available? I heard my nephew Peter come in downstairs calling my name. Then I heard another set of footsteps.

"Derek! Where the hell is she? I demand blood!" I growled as Sarah threatened Nyx.

"Derek?" I looked over and saw Nyx awake.

She smiled at me.

"Derek! Bring me that bitch!" Her smile vanished.

Nyx slipped out of bed. She walked up to me. She took my left hand in her right one.

"I'm sorry for running away, Derek. I just, I." She grit her teeth.

I pulled my hand from her face and looked into her eyes.

"I understand, Princess. I could hear how much pain you were in the other night during the pack dinner. Your heartbeat increased, the gasp, the crack in your voice as you were leaving that night. I wanted so badly to look at you. To comfort you, but I also wanted to rip her head off. You mean the world to me, Nyx," I leaned down and nuzzled her throat, "mine."

She nodded, "let's go deal with your ex-fiancé before she destroys our home."

She took my hand in hers and we walked down the stairs.

Nyx

As we reached the bottom of the stairs, Sarah looked pissed.

"I demand retribution for her actions against your Alpha," I heard Derek growl behind me, "that's impossible. How are you an Alpha? You have no Emissary!"

I heard a knock on the door. Derek's arms wrapped around my waist.

"Peter, will you welcome our guests in, please?" I frowned.

Peter opened the door and I saw a man who closely resembles Sarah.

I looked back at Derek, "when did you call him?"
Derek nuzzled my throat, "as soon as I was an Alpha." I looked towards Sarah.

"Father, you're here. Make him honor the marriage between clans!" I snarled.

I caught myself by surprise. Her father looked in my direction. His eyes met mine. He looked furious, and then turned to his daughter.

"Are you insane? She is an Emissary, and Derek is an Alpha! Please tell me you were not stupid enough to try to kill her." I stepped away from Derek.

"I fear she did far more than that," he turned back to me, "your daughter helped Kate Argent set fire to the Hale house all those years ago. She was surprised to know an Emissary in training had survived the Hale fire."

Her fathers eyes turned dark, "father she is lying! She just wants Derek all to herself!"

Her father snarled at her, "do not say another word, Sarah. I am disappointed in you."

"Father," I snapped my fingers, "I believe your father spoke. Alpha, may I show you the memories of today?"

I bowed to him in respect. I heard Derek growl behind me.

"Alpha Hale, that is enough. As your Emissary I am doing my duty." I stepped up to Sarah's father.

"Alpha, these are the words your daughter spoke to me today." I took his hand in mine.

I gently shared the memories today, including when I bonded with the Nemeton. Her father pulled his hand away from mine and turned towards his daughter.

"You helped hunters slaughter an entire pack of wolves?!" I stepped back towards Derek.

"No, Father. She lies! Please! She just wants-" he hit her.

"You are no daughter of mine." He raised his hand, claws present.

I closed my eyes. I couldn't watch. I heard flesh rip and Derek pulled me against his chest. I took a deep breath, inhaling his scent. I heard a thud and cringed. Derek growled over my head.

"I suggest you clear out. You better be out of my territory by the end of the day. If not I won't hesitate to rip your head off. Now leave, Alpha Cross, and take your daughter's body with you." I peaked at Sarah's father.

The two men with him retrieved her body. I could see the sadness in his eyes. I glanced at Sarah. She wasn't dead. Not yet, but she wouldn't come back as an Alpha. I pulled away from Derek and went to her. I heard growls from the two men who had almost grabbed her. I glared up at them. They backed away. I knelt down and let my hands hover over her throat.

Heal.

I felt power run through my body to my hands. All the damage I had done earlier was healed and claw marks from her father were now thin white scars.

You are a Beta.

She gasped and shot up her hands holding her throat. I stood and backed away. I turned to Alpha Cross. He looked confused.

"She is still your daughter. Who has a lot of growing up to do. She is Beta, and you are now her Alpha. I won't be so kind as to give her a second chance again. She helped slaughter an entire pack and innocent humans. She ever darkens our doorstep again, Alpha Cross, and she will end up dead permanently." I smiled at him.

I could see the thankfulness in his eyes.

"Thank you." I nodded.

I turned to Derek. He smiled at me, then he looked panicked. I felt exhausted and everything went black.
