William Moseley as Remus Lupin in the media. what do you guys think?Anyways, here's part 2 of James' little plan thingy. Hope you enjoy it!
Although Hogwarts meals are excellent, I have never been more eager for dinner to be over. As soon as our dessert plates have been magically swiped away, all the students - only the three oldest grades are present - are invited to stand up by a beaming Dumbledore, while professor Flitwick lets the band commence. An edgy, rocky tune is played.
McGonagall and Slughorn are the ones that open the ball, the latter a little wobbly on his feet, his cheeks red from wine. As they awkwardly waltz through the dance floor - the tables, along with the benches and cutlery have dissapeared - students slowly start getting the vibe and stand up, find their dates, and start dancing.
I am not surprised to see Sirius dragging Marlene up as one of the first ones, Padfoot whispering things in her ear that make her giggle like mad, and the two of them take each hold each other tightly as I jealousy watch them.
"Operation Lilyflower is on," I whisper as to confirm myself of what I am about to do. Am I mad? Madly in love, perhaps. I hope with all my heart that she feels the same.
I turn towards Daisy, who stands behind me, her blue dress trembling with excitement. Remus is eyeing her with a look that seems so foreign on his face. A crush. Moony is, for the first time, crushing on a girl. Speaking of which, it's time to get into action. I see Lily and Keisuke swirling slowly throughout the Great Hall, his red bow tie clashing horribly with her shimmering ginger hair. I swear she's never looked this beautiful.
"Ahem," I hear a voice next to me. Remus and Daisy have apparently joined the dance floor already, judging from the blank space behind me. Oh, right. I've got to ask Laura to dance.
I am known to be a lot of negative things - characteristics that I am very well aware of and intensely loathe myself for - but there is one thing I pride myself on, and that is that I have been taught to be a gentleman. And so I get on my knees, look up to the slightly smirking girl, and take her hands in mine.
"Laura Jones, can I have this dance?" My tomboy friend pretends to act nonchalantly, but I see a little blush coming to her eyes. There is an insecure girl behind her confident and reckless attitude, that I now see. Why is she insecure? I'm not good with girly things, but I can give her some confidence to boost that sweet character she hides.
Which is why I grip her extra tightly when we enter the dance floor. I'm not that good of a dancer, neither is she, but that's okay. Suddenly I feel like my mission has changed. I want to give Laura an evening to remember. I scroll through possible dating candidates for her in my mind.
Parker Stevenson? Too bold.
Malcolm Barrie? Oh wait, no Slytherins included.
Philip Brink? Frank Longbottom? Carter Tomlinson?
"James, look up," Laura hisses in my ear, interrupting me from my trance. It's only then that I notice how tightly I've been gripping her, and how she warmly and un-Lauralike she responded to this embrace, holding on to my shoulders for dear life.
It's nice, holding someone like that, even if it's just a friend. But my mind has been set on Lily Evans since the moment I laid eyes on her, and when I look up and see how close I am to interrupting her moment with Keisuke, my feelings for her intensify more than ever before.
"Hey! Lily!" I call and she looks up, surprised. I loosen my grip on Laura as I give her a small wave.
"James! Laura! You having fun?" she calls from over Keisuke's shoulder. It's such a ruthless and unladylike, so Lily-ish. How can someone be so perfect?
