The Tale of Coincidences

Chapter 1

"Avii jaldi karnaa late ho rahaa haiii!!" (Avii make it fast it's getting late) Kriti shouted as her voice shook up the entire 3 bhk they lived in. Kriti Kapoor aka Kiki, the youngest daughter of the Kapoor Khandaan as they liked to call it was the most pampered kid in the house, apart from being a young strong-headed, hangry foodie and carefree person in her early 20s.
On the other hand, her elder sister Avantika Kapoor aka Avi was the ideal daughter, beautiful, intelligent, smart, and most importantly way calmer than Kriti.

She was being hurried for no fault of hers, as Ms. Kriti Kapoor had to be at her friend's place by 11 AM for some college project work and Avantika was supposed to drop her and it was already 10.30! All thanks to Kriti's stationary pouch which was nowhere to be seen. She had wrecked up the whole house but in vain only to find it lying in the balcony where she had left it.

Avantika scurried her way quickly and finally managed to drop her in time because Kriti Kapoor's wrath was not something someone would enjoy.

"Jab kaam hojaye to call kardena aur apna khayaal rakhna!" (When you're done with your work give me a call and take care!) Avantika shouted as Kriti was running into the apartment. To which Kriti responded by saying " Tension mat le sabke phone numbers bhej diya hai tujhe! Ab go and enjoy your book launch! Byeee!!"(Don't worry I have sent everyone's phone numbers to you!)

Avantika chuckled and shook her head thinking of her sister's response and made her way towards the book launch.

The Malhotra household had been decided as the meeting place by the gang . Nakul Malhotra , the leader of the team and also one of the favorite members of the gang had decided to take up the initiative of getting all of them together at his to finish the group project.

Having moved just 3 months ago to Hyderabad from Bangalore , Shipra Malhotra , his mom was more than elated to host the kids and was happy that Nakul had made good friends in such a short span of time.

Soon the house was filled with young boys and girls hanging around and discussing what to be done and waiting for someone important. Soon that "someone important " came huffing and puffing into the house as the door was ajar. Nakul and the rest of the gang started firing her with questions as to what made her come so late.

"Kriti Kapoor jab aati hai, sahi time tab he shuru hota hai"( Right time starts when Kriti Kapoor arrives) she replied sassily not wanting to reveal her stupid reason.

 "Kiki aur uska yeh bollywood keeda" Nakul commented shaking his head. Kriti aka kiki and Avantika were if not the biggest but the craziest bollywood buffs ever and apart from food that was the other thing the sisters bonded over.

"Chalo chalo kaam pe lag jao guys! We have to finish this stuff by today!"
Kriti commanded her team mates to which Nakul replied with a salute to tease her.

Nakul and Kriti had become really close friends , actually best friends in the past few months as their vibes matched with each other on the first day of college. He was new in the city and she was new in the college for the final year and they both gelled quite quickly given the situation they joined college.

"Maa I'm leaving for the book launch I'll be back be afternoon!" a deep husky voice suddenly came from the other room. It was Aarav Malhotra, the elder son of the Malhotra family.
"Time se aajana beta aaj Papa ke bahut close friend apne family ke saath milne aa rahe hai 6 baje tak !"
(Ce back on time, Papa's really close friends are coming to meet us at 6 today) Shipra told Aarav while he was leaving.
He reassured his mother and came to bid goodbye to his brother when Nakul introduced him to his friends who happily greeted him calling him bhaiya which made him smile and he flashed his ever charming smile.

"Mai 4 baje tak aajaunga , Maa ko zyaada tang mat karna, samjha chote?!" (I'll come back by 4 don't trouble maa okay?) said with a smirk and left to which Nakul obediently obliged saying "Haanji bilkul bhaiya" ( Yes sure bhaiya) with a slight twitch on his face. Upon hearing this Kriti including the others erupted in a fit of laughter and started teasing Nakul with his newly discovered nickname. "Ya ya whatever , just get back to your work guys , y'all can tease me later " Nakul said frowning.
