I stepped out of the opening elevator doors to the top floor of the building. I walked down the hall until I found my apartment. I reached into my pocket and pulled my keys out. I stuck them into the door lock and turned it, unlocking the door and granting me access inside.
I opened the door and felt the cool, crisp air hit my body with the same familiar scent I always left behind when I went to work. It felt like ages had passed since I'd met Pierce, my boyfriend.
I eventually found a job to be a hairdresser and that was my current job. Every day when I left, Pierce would be lonely with nothing to do except watch Socky. So I bought a pet to keep him company.
It was a little wiener dog named Nellie and those two were the best of friends. Pierce did want me by his side at all times but when I was gone at least he had Nellie.
I hadn't seen Chris nor Tess since what I called, "The Incident." I always said that I was lucky that those two were gone because I wanted nothing to do with them. I was happy with my life and didn't need any more problems.
"Y/N."
"Hey, Pierce."
Pierce stood up off the couch and wrapped his strong arms around me. Nellie was barking happily at my feet. Pierce and I pulled away from our hug and he captured my lips in a sweet kiss.
Of course, I had to stand on my tip-toes to reach.
"How was work?" He asked. I made my way to the kitchen and set my purse on the counter. I opened the fridge door and reached inside to grab a bottle of water.
I closed the door and opened the bottle of water. "It was the same as every day. Dying hair, cutting hair, adding hair extensions." I worked at a very nice place and got paid a lot, so of course I was exhausted after doing so much every day, but it was always worth it in the end to see Pierce's face light up every time I stepped through the door.
I held the cap to the bottle of water in my hand and took a sip. I placed the cap back on the bottle and licked my wet lips as I swallowed the gulp of water. "I still missed you, of course," I added.
Nellie was still jumping around all over the apartment but with Pierce and I, we were just in our own world sometimes. "I missed you too, Y/N."
Pierce and I leaned in for another kiss. It was a lot wetter than the first one, considering I just drank a large gulp of water. Pierce softly took the water bottle out of my hand and placed it on the counter behind me, beside the fridge.
I ran my hands through his smooth, dark hair. I squealed when I felt Pierce's hands under my thighs and lifted me off the ground. I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.
Pierce swiftly pulled away and glanced down. I giggled when I realized that Nellie was standing on her two hind legs, pressing her front ones on Pierce's lower leg and looking up at us with a smile and her tongue hanging out of her mouth.
Pierce started laughing, too.
Yup, it was great to be home.

Pierce and I had just finished eating dinner. So what did we decide to do for the rest of the evening? We were sitting on the couch, watching reruns of Socky. Nellie was resting her head in Pierce's lap and I rested my head on his shoulder.
Pierce's arm was wrapped around me while the other was subconsciously petting Nellie. My eyelids were getting heavy and I felt myself drifting off.
A soft knock on the door could be heard over the TV. That got my full attention. I stood up off the couch and Pierce was about to stand up when I rested my hand on his shoulder. "I'll answer it, you can sit down."
Pierce was about to protest when I gave him the 'Try me and see what happens look.' Pierce sat back down and Nellie nuzzled her face into his stomach.
I trotted toward the door and grabbed the door handle. I swiftly turned it and opened the door to reveal Tess.
