It was nighttime. All was quiet. Well, all except for the faint snores erupting from Nellie, who was curled up in a ball at the foot of my bed. That dog could sleep in any position anywhere.

Pierce was silently sleeping behind me, no problems in the world.

As for me, I couldn't seem to fall asleep. Tess's words were ringing in my thoughts and replaying over and over, almost as if she were in front of me.

"Who knows. Maybe he'd willingly leave you for me."

For someone as quirky as Tess, she infuriated me, even though that was the only time we'd ever officially met. I was so afraid she was right. Right that Pierce would leave me for her.

She was Tess. The bold, sassy girl who had a comeback for everything,

And I was Y/N. The simple, quiet girl who doesn't have much to live for aside from her dog and boyfriend. A Daemos boyfriend, in which she was afraid he would leave her for another girl.

Pierce was like no other guy I'd ever met. I wouldn't have been able to keep moving if it weren't for him. I'd thought Chris was all I needed but I was clearly wrong.

Pierce was all I needed.

I tossed and turned all night relentlessly, but Tess's words replayed in my mind and terrified me all over again.

"Who knows. Maybe he'd willingly leave you for me."

Eventually I found myself sitting in my bed with my knees pulled up to my chest and resting my head against the headrest. "What are you doing awake?"

I practically jumped out of my skin at the sound of Pierce's voice; I had no idea he was awake. "P-Pierce! You scared me!"

Pierce sat up and tilted his head at me. Nellie was still asleep (Somehow).

"I didn't mean to scare you, N/N," Pierce softly replied, "I was just wondering why you're still awake."

I nervously wrapped a stray piece of my H/C hair behind my ear. "Well... Pierce, can I ask you something?" Better to tell him the truth than nothing.

Pierce nodded.

I took a deep breath. "Would you ever leave me? For somebody else, I mean."

Pierce was taken aback. "Why do you ask?"

"I-I was just wondering," I shyly answered. Pierce took my hand in his and his thumb gently ran across my knuckles. "No," He answered.

I had never been so relieved. My tense shoulders relaxed and a quiet sigh left my parted lips. Pierce scooted closer to me and engulfed me in his large arms, softly petting my head.

I melted into his arms and rested my head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

Sleep quickly consumed me.
