Heading inside the cafe, SMG4 was the first to look around his surroundings. It was pretty crowded at this time, but it was a peaceful kind of crowded. People were talking in soft voices, laughing or giggling, while the scent of coffee and cupcakes filled the air. SMG4 stared around in awe yet with a warm smile. When the two headed to the cashier, the lady up front asked what the two friends wanted.
"What can I get you, gentlemen?" The lady asked with a sweet smile, facing the two.
SMG4 froze for a second. "Uh, actually, I'm not a-"
But before he could correct the lady at the front, SMG3 spoke."Uh, I'd like a white mocha," SMG3 replies to the lady. He looks over at SMG4, waiting for his answer. SMG4 hesitates with his order, unsure of what he wants. He looked around the large menu on top of the cashier.
"I-I guess I'll take a hot chocolate and a sponge cake," SMG4 says, lowering his head to look.
The cashier smiled.
She placed their order for the two and handed them a small piece of paper with their table number. The two nodded and went over...
...
"So, tell me about yourself," SMG3 asks SMG4 while gazing into his eyes. "Are you from around here?"
That question alone made SMG4 sweat.
"Uh, I-"
Hesitant enough that he couldn't speak properly, SMG3 raises an eyebrow in confusion.
"I-uh- Y'know, just around the city is all!" SMG4 grins awkwardly. "I-uh, I'm part of the... uh-"
SMG4 clears his throat. "The, uh, South part of the Mushroom Kingdom! Y'know, the weeds and the... uh... stores! Yeah." He had no idea what was part of the South.
SMG3 nods slowly. "...right. So, you have any friends here?"
SMG4 shakes his head in response. "No. I was usually alone in the city, being introverted and all." He places his fist on his cheek, supporting his head. "Then again, I only lived with my oldest sibling and that was about it. It's not a mystery as to why I became.. well, me."
SMG3 hums in response, his expression filled with concern and sadness. "I'm sorry about that. I could relate to that honestly."
SMG4 perks his head in curiosity, wondering about SMG3's response. SMG3 clears his throat and unloosens his tie a bit. "For some reason, not a lot of people liked me. I don't know if it's because of the way I dressed or what, but I didn't have many friends either." SMG3's expression turns sad. "After I met my ex, I thought I had an opportunity to be who I am."
SMG3's expression went from sad to slight anger. "But I guess that wasn't the case." He looks away after speaking. SMG4 looks away for a split second, having second thoughts. "Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth looking for love anymore. It's all pointless."
SMG4's expression saddens. He didn't like to hear his new friend get upset because of the past. He wanted to do something to fix that, to make his life have a bit of happiness. After a bit of silence between the two, SMG4 had an idea. His expression turns into awe, looking at SMG3 with a sweet gaze.
"I'll be your friend." He concludes. "After all, you seem sweet!"
SMG3 looks at SMG4 and blushes. A small smile formed across his lips. "T-thank you...what's your name?" He asks.
"Just call me Four."
"...Nice to meet you."-------------------------------------------
