_____________________________________________A very confused and messy Luke later, we had two pastel blue lads. Well one, Luke looked like a smurf while Michael on the other hand looked like he had done this a million times.
As Luke looked at his hair in the mirror, tilting his head every so often, he felt unsure.
"Michael, w-what if the fans d-don't like it?" The younger boy whimpered.
"Luke they'll love you like the always do." Michael sighed and slapped the boys hands away from the blue mess on his head.
"But I've always been the blonde one and they like that and-"
"Luke," Michael started. "Our fanbase, it's incredible. Do you know how many girls have been waiting for this so they don't have to keep photoshopping hair dye on to you? Trust me. You'll be alright."
Michael chuckled and Luke gave a shy smile.
"Are you sure, Mike?" Luke whispered and glanced up at the older boy.
"I promise," Michael smiled. Luke gave him a bro hug and walked over to the door.
"What will the lads think?" And as soon as the words left his mouth, a new form of worry flashed over Luke's face now.
"W-What if they don't like it?! I can't have them mad at me Michael! They're my best mates." Luke stuttered, pacing in front of the door before Michael smiled and shoved him outside.
Michael could hear Calum congratulating him and Ashton screaming "you look like you killed a smurf!"
-
At dinner the four boys sat in the corner of a bar, screaming at some footy match that was going on and drinking. Michael, though feeling unaware and uncomfortable, decided to go along and is glad he did. Michael was having some fun, watching his best mates get all flustered over sports.
Ashton leaned over to Michael whispering, "How'd you convince him?"
"Who?"
He motioned towards Luke who was screaming as his team scored a goal.
Michael shook his head, "he asked me. I told him go for it. He was so worried you lot wouldn't like it."
"I like it, figured he would do it some day." Ashton giggled and returned to the television, sighing along with the rest of the lads as the match ending and their team lost.
On the ride home Calum wouldn't shut up.
"He should've blocked that last goal! How can you miss a penalty shot like that!" He would protest and throw his hands in the air before pouring and resting then in his lap.
Ashton was a giggling mess beside Michael in the front seat.
"What's so funny, Ashton?" Calum asked.
"Your reaction to all this is," he told a break to breath and regain some composure before finishing. "Adorable."
"I am not adorable!" Calum pouted and turned to Luke.
"Luke tell him I'm not! That sounds baby-ish!" Luke was asleep by now, not even batting an eye at Calum's request.
Calum then huffed and turned against the window, Ashton still laughing. Minutes later you could hear Calum back the there laughing too.
"What's so funny, Calum?" Ashton asked and that sent Calum into hysterics, his face turning red. Michael joined in on the laughter, the sound of the two becoming contagious.
When they got back to the hotel all the boys rushed out and into the building, trying to get to their games first.
That left Michael to carry Luke. Michael sighed and opened the back door, Luke's head slumping a bit. He unbuckled the lanky little shit and hoisted him in his arms, struggling at first but then regaining his balance as he locked the doors and walked inside, a guard opening he doors and chuckling at the two.
To any stranger, or anyone not in the 5SOS fam, this would look completely weird and maybe a bit funny, but to the other boys this was something that always happened.
When he walked into the hotel room, Michael immediately went back to his room setting him on Ashton's bed. After making sure he was alright, he walked back out to the main den and slumped on the couch.
"Luke's using your bed tonight, Ash." Michael huffed and picked up a controller. Michael sucked at FIFA.
"Why?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the game.
"He's already asleep." Michael cursed as he got the ball taken away from him.
"Don't swear," Ashton laughed.
"Oh shit, sorry," Michael laughed and set the controller back down.
"I quit, fuck this." And went back to his room.
After pulling out some sweats from his luggage, he moved next to his bed. He shimmied out of his tight, black skinny jeans and into the loose fitting sweats.
Well... kind of.
Michael had gotten it wrapped around his foot and it wouldn't work. As he hopped around, he stepped on the leg of the tangled mess and slipped falling right into Luke's arms.
"Need some help there, yeah?" Luke chuckled after steadying Michael.
"Shit, sorry. Did I wake you? I didn't mean it I- " Michael started before Luke pressed a dinner to his lips.
"No. I woke up on my own and saw you strugglin'," he chuckled.
"Well.." Michael drifted off. "Thanks mate. I'm gonna go to bed now. Night, Smurf."
-
"Michael, Mikey it's ok. Calm down Mikey." Luke cradled the older lad as they sat in his bed, Michael on the verge of tears.
"It's just a dream," Luke soothed as he rubbed Michael's back.
"It's happens every night now," Michael's voice broke.
"What's it about?" Luke's tone was gentle and caring.
"I-I don't wanna..." Michael mumbled.
"Michael talking will help." Luke went to wipe Michael's tears with the pad of his thumb.
"I-I- The people were chanting it.. an-and.." Michael stuttered, hiccuping.
"Something ab-bout me being g-gay or something like t-that." Michael hiccuped again.
Luke was shocked, but stayed where he was as he told Michael to go on.
"They, they had me on the edge of a building.. and the first few times I jumped off, b-but now I'm being shoved off the top a building." Michael's voice failed him as he broke into more tears, all the pain that he's kept in while they've been on tour was coming out to Luke.
"W-Why are you dreaming like this?" Luke asked, voice unsure.
"I don't know." Michael said and crossed his arms. After this, the last thing he wanted Luke to see was what he had done.
"Michael... Are you.. Do you.. Is the dream true?" Luke didn't know what to say to not hurt Michael's feelings.
"N-No, at least I don't think so." Michael's cries as slowed to a whimper and he was falling asleep in Luke's arms.
"Luke," Michael mumbled, his eyes drooping.
"Yes, Mikey?" Luke whispered.
"Stay with me?" Michael begged and Luke nodded before climbing under the covers with the boy and patting his back before turning over and falling asleep.
