𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐁𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀'𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄,
wondering why the girl wasn't answering his many texts and calls.

they were supposed to meet tonight by the lake and talk but she never showed up. steve waited there for about an hour before deciding he would just go to her.

he was worried about her because she was usually the one blowing up his phone, and yet there was no response back, which was weird to say the least.

"fuck." steve mumbled to himself, as he pedaled faster. his call to ailanna went to voicemail yet again.

he reached her house and got off his bike, putting the kickstand down and setting it by the porch.

he took note of the fact that there was no car in the driveway, he assumed ailanna's mom was out. she usually was at the club or out with friends, according to ailanna.

he walked up the steps and knocked on the door, waiting to see who would answer.
nobody did, so he took his keys out of his pocket.
ailanna's mother gave him a spare key to their house just incase he needed it, and steve was glad she did.

he unlocked the door and walked into the house, taking his shoes off and locking the door behind him.

the lights in the house were mostly off, except for a few upstairs, but nobody except ailanna was home.  her brother, chris, was probably out with his friends.

he assumed ailanna would be upstairs, so he walked up the stairs as quietly as he could, making note of any noise he heard.

pill bottles rattling, crying, soft music playing.

steve walked down the hallway and saw a crack of light from the bathroom.

he opened the door and saw his best friend about to attempt to overdose.

"ailanna..?!" he exclaimed, quickly kneeling down to the girl sitting against the bathtub.

he knocked the pills out of the girls hand and they scattered across the tiled floor.

she stared at him, more tears threatening to spill from her eyes.

she couldn't put together a sentence, she just cried. she threw himself into his arms and let it all out.

"it's okay lanna. i'm here." he reassured her, rubbing her back and hugging her tight.

"i'm sorry, steve!" she wailed into his shoulder.

"ailanna. there's no reason for you to apologize. i just-.. i just wish you would have talked to me sooner. i'm your best friend. i'm always gonna be here for you." he assured, putting emphasis on "always". he never wanted to leave this girls side.
