It was raining the night Kiara Quinn finally decided to leave and run out of the house after one of the worst fights with her parents.

That was also the same night Noah Carter decided to run away too.

Kiara ran and didn't stop she didn't care where she went she just loved the adrenaline she was feeling with the rain and wind beating against her face as she ran down the city sidewalks.

Noah on the other hand was as calm as ever walking with nowhere important to be, but also loving the feel of the wind and rain against his smooth face.

Suddenly Kiara collided with something hard and tall. She fell and it fell making a slight grunting sound as it hit the ground.

"Can you watch where you're going.  I could have hit my head or something," Kiara said forcefully more as a statement than a question. She was filled with anger that needed to be released and words were the only way. Even if it was to a random person she just ran into.

"I could say the same thing to you in all honesty," A calm voice came from above the girl sitting on the wet concrete. She looks up and into hazel brown eyes. The hazel eyes held only hurt and some anger, but no hate towards the girl that just full-fledged ran into him, almost getting him concussed.  He held his hand out to the girl waiting for her to take it. Supprising herself she slipped her hand into his larger one. She got up and stared into his eyes as if she was awaiting all the answers to every question she's ever had.

"You still could have moved or something," Kiara eventually spoke up breaking eye contact with the boy in front of her.

"Why were you running in the middle of the shittiest rainstorm of the season?" The boy asked, totally ignoring what she just said.

"Just... some uh problems I had made me want to go for a jog you know. You're not exactly fit to talk. What did you want to take a leisurely walk or something during the storm?"

"Maybe I had some problems of my own. I need to you know cool off a bit," Kiara just rolled her eyes as her lips quirked into a small smile.

After a moment of complete silence from the two, Kiara spoke up, "Hey odd question. I know we just met and all, but do you wanna get some coffee with me?" The boy looked at her an chuckled a bit at her question.

"Really? Coffee at 9:30 pm?"

"I mean we could get tea too if you're that picky about it," Kiara shrugged her shoulders and looked away, expecting a full rejection to come out of his mouth.

"Sure," the boy says. Kiara looks up at him with a little bit of glimmer in her eyes, "But only if you're paying," Kiara nodded and mumbled a small sure.

"Come on the one a block from here is to die for and they're open for a little while longer."

She grabs the boy's hand and drags him along to her favorite spot in the whole city. It was a tiny cafe with plants and books all around. It was Kiara's secret domain where she knew all the workers and could speak about anything and do everything without the weight of her friends and family on her back.

Kiara guides the boy, who she still doesn't know the name of, into the little dimly lighted cafe.

"Hey, Cat!" Kiara yells as they sit in her normal spot.

"OMG! Hey crazy girl! It's been a while, how are you?" The girl now known as Cat asks.

"I'm good. Im good. Can I just get my usual please?"

"Of course. And what about this fine young man?" The boy looks up at Cat who is giving him 'the look'. The 'hey mama's. What are you doing later'.

"Um, I'll just get what she's getting," the boy responds giving Cat a small smile.

"Coming right up! You scored on this one, but what will your parents think?" Kat responds and whispers the rest to Kiara in her ear. Kiara thinks and then shrugs her shoulders. Kat just shakes her head and walks away.

"So what do you think? Nice, huh?" Kiara asks the boy excitedly. She doesn't know why she's so happy. She brought someone she just meant into her safe space. A place not even her closest friends know about. Corrected, closest school friends.

"Its actually... really nice," the boy looks around and finally comes back to Kiara sitting in front of him. They just stare at each other in comfortable silence listening to the classical Christmas music coming out of the speakers.

"Here you two go," Kat says, breaking the two from their starring contest.

"Thanks, Kat," Kat nods and winks at Kiara. Kiara just bites her lip, holding back a smile. Kiara and the boy sit together in silence as they drink. Occasionally they make eye contact and quickly look away.  Time passes and shop is about to close, so the two newly acquainted strangers step out into the breezy night.

"Thanks," Kiara smiles at the boy.

"For what?"He replies.

"For making me feel better. Today was rough and you just made it a little smoother."

"Well I'm glad I did. Do you want me to walk you home."

"No its ok. I don't think my parents would like it if I brought a boy home."  The boy shoves his hands into his pockets and nods.

"Can I get your number?" Kiara just bites her lip and looks down, slowly shaking her head with a guilty feeling.

"My parents wouldn't like me having a boy's number either," they both stand awkwardly until Kiara jumps up, "How about this? I'll give you my number, but you can only use it to call if something happens. Good or bad. Or your upset. Ok?"

The boy smiles and nods his head. Kiara then pulls out a pen and writes her number onto his hand. The boy stares at it for a moment, almost as if it were a tattoo he'd been wanting his whole life.

"Alright then. I hope to see you around," Kiara turns to leave but is pulled back to the boy.

"Noah," the boy, Noah, says staring into Kiara's eyes.

Kiara takes a minute before a smile creeps onto her face and she replies, "Kiara."

"It was lovely meeting you Kiara," Noah says leaning in and giving Kiara a peck on the cheek, "I hope to see you again very soon, but under better circumstances of course."

"You too, Noah," she liked the way his name rolled off her tongue. it was smooth and like she had said it a million times before. they both smiled at each other before turning their own separate ways, secretly smiling to themselves over their new friendships.
