"I'm just saying, a party might be what you need right now," Eliana explains. "You've been tense the last few days."Eliana was my partner in crime. We were inseparable. She was Gryffindor but it didn't stop her and I. Nothing could pull us apart. We were a duo. A notorious one at that. She was the brunette to my blonde. And everyone knew it.
"I'm not tense. Just. . . stressed."
"This isn't stressed Laila, this is agitated and knowing what it is and not doing anything about it."
"Yeah, keep telling me what's happening in my head, Eli." I roll my eyes and lay down on my bed.
"Don't catch an attitude with me, I'm trying to help." She straddles my waist and puts both her hands on cheeks. "Get dressed. It's only a couple people down in the room of requirement."
"The society is throwing a party?" I ask.
Now, here's the society. The top five wizards from each house host nights like poker night, girls night, etc. All of it never made me interested. I got asked this year if I wanted to be a member but I don't want to be tied up in the drugs they distribute or the parties that leave people in the hospital wing for days.
But everyone fears the society so none of the professors find out about any of it without some kind of fabricated story.
"They said this year, given the wizard tournaments, they're gonna be doing things different," she explains. "They want more edge and more to talk about."
"Lovely. . ." I pause, debating the night out. I've been to one party, a small one which really shouldn't even count as a party. I'm not one to show my face at these kinds of events. My reputation remains intact and a party pushes my line.
But a night out is sounding more and more tempting. And Eli is a very convincing individual.
"Alright," I sigh, shaking my head. "Let's go."
She smiles all giddy and shakes around before getting off of me. "Wear your house color. Everyone else does it."
And there's my sign not to wear my house color. Eli goes to her dorm to get all her things to get ready with me. We dance to music, do each others makeup and hair, and do all kinds of physical spells to make ourselves enticing.
Black spoke to me and the way I was feeling? It was a fitting color. Not in a mood for anyone to start bothering me."How do you get your hair so thick?" Eli asks as we head down to the room.
"I wash it like a normal human being."
"Hilarious." She rolls her eyes. "Seriously. I'm trying to get mine fuller."
"Little fire, little genetics," I explain.
"You're fucking adorable, you know that?"
"That's a new one," I say. "Hot, boring, intimidating, those are common ones. Not sure I like your new nickname."
