CHAPTER-17
Gauri returned to her office although her mind was nowhere on work, she managed the day somehow and then left for home. At home, everyone was waiting for her but they knew something was wrong when she left for her room.
Dev knew he had to wait till Gauri herself came and told them so he stopped Malini who was about to go to their daughter. However, Prashant ran behind her to her room without caring what Dev was saying and when he found the room dimly lit with her sleeping on the bed in a curled-up position he knew something was wrong that made her this upset, he left her to be and again went done.
Dev: So son talked with her? What did she say?
Prashant: Nothing Dad, she just slept. Her behaviour is quite the same as last time when she came back that day.
Malini and Dev looked at each other for a while remembering the day after which their daughter changed forever until they saw her smiling heartily with Akshay just some time before.
Malini: Should we inform Akshay about this, Dev? We don't know if they talked about this or not. But he should know, right?
Dev: No Gauri should herself open about what she feels and Akshay being her partner should know that something is bothering her. If they are not able to handle then we will intervene but now is their time to form their new bond.
Prashant: But Dad, I'm scared, Di won't be able to handle it if something happens like last time.
Let's believe in Akshay, I know he won't let us down, Dev said because deep down he knew his daughter was affected this much then it meant it was because of Akshay only. He knew his daughter would never give anyone such power over herself after what she had faced.
Back at Gauri's room:
Gauri was still thinking about what happened today and feeling low. She didn't like the feeling she got from that strange man. This time she had Akshay with her but still her past fears were stronger than Akshay's comfort. Even though she had a feeling she would never leave Akshay still she felt that his family might separate them.
Gauri's POV
Why was it always me at the receiving end? The day started great I met Akshay today, and he showed me his workspace everything was going well but then we had to be apart and that incident that happened, why why the past had to come back, she questioned herself.
I couldn't think of anything then that thing and then to top that Akshay said his family doesn't want us together.
Oh God, it's too much to think, my head will blast someday with this overthinking.
While thinking the same things again and again she dozed off like that only.
Around night, Malini came to check up on her and to wake her to take her dinner but when she came into her room the lights were dim, and Gauri was curled up in a fetal position. She came close to her to wake her when she saw the dried tear marks on her cheeks and in the process of wiping them off her hand came in touch with her skin and she realised that she had a fever.
She tried to wake her but when she didn't she called Dev and together they took her to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Akshay was contemplating whether he should call her or just go see her so that he could calm himself down as he was quite worried about her reaction back at the hotel. So, he called her, but the call went unanswered. He tried 2-3 times but still the same. He was worried so he called Prashant to check on her but...
Prashant's POV
I was still figuring out how to approach Di about her feelings so that she wouldn't be hurt but would feel a bit better if she spoke about it when I received Akshay Jiju's call. Why was he calling me when he should Di? Oh, I guess Di didn't pick up his call that's why maybe?
Me: Jiju, tension not I'll inform Di to call you back.
Akshay: How did you know I called you for the same?
Me: With the face Di came back home, I knew she would try to ignore you too.
Akshay: What?? What face? He stood up from his seat and was wearing his shoes to come there. When Prashant explained what had happened in the evening, Akshay felt chills roll down his spine.
"Go and check on her, I'm coming there," he said, so he cancelled the call and ran down as fast as he could.
Nobody saw him moving out but then when he reached the car he received Prashant's call again.
Prashant: Jiju, Di is not at home, and I came to check if she was with Mom and Dad but they are also not in their room.
Akshay: You are scaring me, bro, call them meanwhile I will reach your place.
Akshay reached as soon as he could to see Prashnt walking to and fro the porch just waiting for him.
Akshay: Prashant... he came close to him to see he had tears running done his eyes.
Prashant: Jiju, Di... hospital...
Akshay couldn't comprehend what to feel so he made him sit in the car after getting the hospital's name and rode off to the hospital.
Glancing again and again at Prashant he refrained from asking why because he knew he had to get them to the hospital in one piece and then he could lose control over his feelings.
He gripped the steering wheel tight repeatedly praying to God to keep her safe. They somehow made it to the hospital and ran towards the reception.
Prashant: Di...
Akshay: He means Gauri Rane. Which room she is admitted to?
104, towards your left
Prashant you go to her I'll come in meanwhile.
Prashant looked for a while between him and the receptionist's face but let it go and ran to his sister.
Receptionist: Yes Sir, how can I help you?
Akshay: Move her to the VIP room as soon as possible and change her name to Mrs. Gauri Akshay Walawalkar henceforward anything related to her inform me first. And yeah call the Dean of this hospital I want to talk with him.
Precap: What might Akshay want to talk to the Dean? Why was Prashant giving him "the looks"? Why Akshay did do what he did instead of asking about her health? Let's see what happens next...
