Time was running out, and Ruby, known as Arsène only in the shadows, had reached her 15th birthday. In these eight years, he had delved deeply into the complexities of Vale, participating in clandestine missions to expand his contacts and accumulate resources. However, life in the shadows no longer satisfied him as it once did.
His last mission promised to change everything. It was a search for a special cargo Bullhead at an underground auction, an acquisition that would mean financial independence, allowing Ruby to live without the constant looking over her shoulder.
The auction took place in a dark warehouse, full of whispers about illegal transactions. Ruby, now masterfully disguised as Arsène, mingled among the attendees, her keen eyes analyzing every detail.
The shadowy warehouse pulsed with the subdued bustle of the clandestine auction. Ruby, disguised as Arsène, slipped through the shadows, watching the sounds that echoed off the worn walls.
An enigmatic merchant raised his hand, announcing the start of the auction. "We start with a special cargo Bullhead, capable of overcoming any challenge. Who offers the first proposal?" The voice resounded in the tense space.
Ruby, hidden in her dark cloak, raised her hand, joining the dangerous dance of throws. "Fifty thousand lien." Her voice was firm but calm, blending in with the murmur of the crowd.
Other offers followed, hidden competitors competing in the shadows for the valuable cargo. The value rose, reflecting the special Bullhead's importance in Vale's underworld.
Then, a familiar voice, deep and authoritative, unexpectedly echoed. "Seventy thousand lien." All eyes turned to Ozpin, the presence of the beacon academy director surprised everyone, including Arsène, who knew almost nothing about the man.
Ruby, keeping her cool under her cover, upped the ante. "Eighty thousand lien." The auctioneer hesitated for a moment before confirming the new bid.
Ozpin, looking over his glasses, considered the offer. "One hundred thousand lien." His voice was calm, but his determination was evident.
The room fell into silence for a moment as Ruby pondered her next move. Finally, he responded with resolution. "One hundred and ten thousand lien." The challenge was launched.
The auctioneer looked between Ruby and Ozpin, noticing the tension unfolding between these two unlikely players. "One hundred and ten thousand lien, going once... twice... sold to... Arsène Lupin."
The murmurs spread like a restless breeze. The special Bullhead now belonged to Ruby, but Ozpin's presence left an aura of mystery.
The charged atmosphere in the warehouse darkened as Ruby, now Arsène Lupine, walked up to the newly acquired Bullhead. Expectations of an advantageous reward permeated the air. However, when he opened the door, what unfolded before him was a cold and cruel surprise.
The red rays from the flashlights inside the Bullhead revealed an unexpected scene. Arsène was greeted not by the valuable cargo he expected, but by a formation of police, armed and ready to act. Their sharp gazes converged towards the legendary thief.
An ironic laugh escaped Arsène's lips. All of it, the auction, the competitors, the Bullhead—an elaborate act to capture him. In an instant, the intricate plot unfolded before him like a puzzle meticulously put together by Ozpin.
"You have shown yourself to be a skilled player, Arsène Lupin. But, as they say, every game has its rules." Ozpin's calm voice cut through the silence, echoing inside the Bullhead.
Arsène, now surrounded by the sharp aim of police weapons, turned to face Ozpin. His face displayed an expression of surprise, but it soon turned into genuine laughter. It was not the laugh of someone defeated, but the laugh of someone who admired the audacity of the plot.
"Bravo, director Ozpin. You exceeded my expectations. I think I deserve applause for the play I inadvertently starred in." Arsène inclined his head in respect, his eyes shining with a mixture of admiration and humor.
Ozpin, maintaining his impeccable posture, revealed the truth. "Your fame as a legendary thief runs through Vale. This was the only way to ensure your presence without alerting your stealth skills. Now, you will be left to face the consequences of your actions."
As the police prepared to escort Arsène out of the Bullhead, he did not resist. His persistent laughter reverberated in the confined space, defying the circumstances. It was as if, even in the midst of imminent capture, Arsène Lupine was playing one last card — that of irreverence in the face of adversity.
