A chill filled the air. Bee could tell something was wrong.. Very wrong. The jingle of the doorknob was a stark contrast to the all-encompassing silence blanketing over them. A loud thud rang out from behind the door, and a deafening scream soon followed. A suffocating fear froze them where they stood, unable to move, hardly able to even breathe as they clenched the doorknob tightly. In a single moment, all the air in their lungs was replaced by an overwhelming wave of pure terror.
After a beat, they steeled their nerves and swung the door open with such force that it nearly busted a hole in the wall next to it. They immediately regretted opening the door, utterly horrified by the sight in front of them. The room was filled with an eerie stillness, broken only by the haunting sound of their aunt's scream. Aunt Mary hits the ground like a crumbling tower. Bee's heart raced, and their mind struggled to process the gruesome sight before them. Their aunt's white shirt was now a canvas for the gruesome artwork of blood, the carpet beneath her soaked in the same horrifying crimson. The metallic scent hung heavy in the air, and Bee's vision blurred as they fought back a wave of nausea, their hands shaking as they gasped for breath. Their legs were weak, ready to collapse onto the floor.
Time slowed as they covered their mouth, tears falling when they flinched at their cousin River, still clutching onto life, struggling to pull himself over to the shaking child. Blood smeared along the carpet, the desperation in his eyes and the haunting plea for help left an ingrained mark on Bee's soul. His eyes rolled to the back of his head, a knife gouged deep in his skull as he went limp.
The man responsible for this nightmare, his clothes and hands stained with his gruesome deeds, moved towards them. Bee could feel their legs giving way under the crushing weight of the current situation, panic threatening to consume them entirely.
In the face of such unimaginable horror, Bee had no choice but to summon every ounce of strength they had left, they needed to act, they needed to escape, they couldn't handle this!! In a panicked flurry, they forced themself to turn away from the man, from their lifeless aunt, from their deceased cousin, and ran. Their heart beating like a drum in their chest, desperate to flee from this living nightmare, too afraid to even try to stop the event that would one day haunt both their nightmares and daydreams- their biggest regret.
Then, just as they reached the exit of the building, a sound pierced the air, the shrill wail of police sirens approaching their building, a sound that sent a surge of hope through Bee's trembling body. Police sirens were distant at first but grew louder with each passing second.

Bee snapped to attention as the bell rang, jolting them out of their daze. They watched as their classmates started to gather their things and file out of the classroom. It was a familiar feeling, the realization that they had lost another class period to their thoughts."Great. Just great," they thought to themself. They had spent yet another hour completely zoned out.
With a heavy sigh, Bee stood up, trying to shake off the fog in their brain. They hastily gathered their belongings, praying no one had noticed the silent tears streaming down their face during their mental absence.
As they wiped away the remnants of their tears, Bee couldn't help but feel frustrated with themself. They knew they needed to be focused and engaged in their classes, but sometimes, their mind seemed to have a will of its own, pulling them into a world of introspection and emotions.
