Atlanta, GA November 5th Thursday
🎶It's funny when they switch and pick a side Ain't nobody gotta go through what I'm going through no🎶
The musical lyrics Switch by 6Lack blurted throughout the house using surround sound speakers. Matthias held an aluminum pan in his grasp as he strolled out of the back door then shutting the door behind him. "Daddy, can I help?" Kennedi asked from sitting on one of her swings alone.
As he approached the black stainless steel BBQ grill island, he leaned backward first as he opened the top. "Yeah, come hold the pan for me," He swatted the smoke from his face. Matthias favorite food will always be BBQ food. The mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, ribs, grilled chicken–and more–he loves it. BBQ food is one of the main choices his family ate when moving to America. Back when he lived in Texas months ago, he always found a good BBQ spot to choose from.
Now living in Atlanta again, he's upset his favorite BBQ places are all closed on Thursdays. Being open every day of the week except Thursdays will never fully process in his brain correctly. However, that's the life of living in Atlanta.
Kennedi jogged towards him with Tazz following close behind. The two couldn't get enough of each other, if Matthias allowed him to sleep in her room–he knew Tazz would be in her bed. As much as Matt loves Tazz, he will never allow him on their beds.
He's too big first of all. Matt thinks he will push Kennedi out of her own bed by accident.
Taking the pan from her dad's hands, she almost held it by the bottom until Matt stopped her. "Hold it by the sides, the meat might make it too hot," He explained, watching her rearrange the pan in her grasp.
Matthias started using the stainless steel tongs to grab the pork chops piece by piece. "So no school tomorrow? Right?" Kennedi asked, watching his every move of placing the meat in the pan.
"Mhm," He briefly hummed, placing the last piece of meat in the pan then shut the grill. Usually Matthias doesn't grill during the week but tomorrow he is giving her a mental day. Every month he always gives her a free day from school. Mental health has always been extremely important in his childhood. His parents always gave them mental breaks from school once a month.
Matt would contact her teacher a few days before just to ask if Kennedi had any important test or assignment happening that day. School can be very difficult on a lot of children, especially his child. Kennedi always wants an A and nothing less. Matthias wasn't surprised she developed that trait. Including his siblings, they were all hard on themselves about their grades in school.
