Chapter Thirteen

Damen

All eyes were on the man Jasmine had proclaimed a traitor. His name was Austin and he had joined us a month ago. He had said he was supposed to have been a rogue before joining.

"What?" Austin asked. His face was red and he was sweating bullets but he recovered and laughed.

"Me? What could I have done?"

I picked Jasmine up and laid her on the loveseat. She twitched a little, but rather than that she seemed simply asleep. Guards marched out.

"We're taking you for your trial," one explained as he crushed Austin against the wall and cuffed his hands together. Austin wriggled and his face was fuming with anguish.

"So, on the word of a sixteen year old girl, I'm being arrested. May I add this is her second day here?" Austin snarled. I glared contemptivelyat him as the guards led him away.

"What am I even being arrested for?" Austin asked, not daintily.

"Suspicion of treason."

"This is crazy!"

"Right to silence for now," a guard grumbled. We had few laws, but they were strict and strong. Treason mostly meant death, although Master could conjure up other ways of punishment that made you wish you had died. Vanessa stopped towards me.

"Can you believe it?" She demanded.

"What?"

"Austin. Being arrested for treason when I know he'd never hurt a fly." I looked at her absurdly.

"You're not suggesting..."

"You're mate's full of crap? Of course. Damen, we still have a chance even though you have a mate," Vanessa whined. I stared at her.

"I know we dated for a week but forget it," I retorted, angry for her even suggesting that.

She pouted but I averted my attention and busied myself with taking Jasmine to our bed. After I lied her down, I called for a physician and looked out the window to see a stranger riding towards our manner

I rushed to see what the deal was about. A guard stood next to him and demanded to hear his name.

"Tomas," he answered, "Tomas Klark."
