Scarlett’s POV
I felt the heat spread to my cheeks, staining it a cherry red forever. What in heck have I done! Messing with Michael was messing with the devil himself! He was just that intimidating. Michael turned slowly, and I tensed myself waiting for the impact of his rage, but all I got was the silent treatment; his cheeks were painted with the color of the sunset. He glared daggers at me, each second killing the chance of me even auditioning. If looks could kill… I'm 99.9 percent sure I'd be dead. I nervously fidgeted with the hem of my black jacket, tracing the lace pattern over and over again. There was an awkward silence…......until Sam broke it.
“I vote for Scar to get the part! She’ll make things interesting in here!” I didn’t think my cheeks could get any redder, but of course they deepened to a fire red.
Matt just chuckled, along with Holly and Sam. Soon they were all rolling on the floor in hysterics, including myself. Our laughter rang out, throughout the whole garage. Holly had tried to video tape us laughing our hearts out on the ground, but her hand was shaking so much from giggling.
My sides were cramping up from laughing, and tears trailed down my face, cooling my heated flesh. The pain in my cheeks from smiling, became almost unbearable, but I couldn’t stop. When everyone was finally settled down, there were still a couple of random laughers, but Holly got the last laugh.
Michael seemed to have a dark aura around him that seemed to say, "if you laugh near me, you’re dead…" He didn’t even twitch a smile. He was sitting on a foldable chair, jaw tensed, and fists clenched at sides. Ok, Scarlett, reminder to self: don’t ever pull Michael’s pants down again, or he might kill you.
“Ok, let’s get down to business. Scar, ready to audition?” Matt asked, I mentally shouted at him, No I’m not ready! And stop calling me Scar! I just nodded, and tried to seem confident, but that ship was soon sinking.
Holly came by my side, “It's going to be nice to have another girl here.” She gave me an encouraging smile and a quick hug.
“Thank you?” I said stunned that she had accepted me so quickly. She'd only known me for half an hour.
Holly winked back at me, and trotted toward the foldable chair next to Michael. She punched his arm and began chastising him, like a small child. I began laughing again, but I swallowed it, afraid that Michael would kill me with his glares again. Even though Holly looked puny and vulnerable against Michael, he cowered and leaned away from Holly’s fury. It was totally comical to me.
Sam patted me on the back. I almost fell, because he scared the crap out of me!
“When you get the part, we can pull plenty of pranks on Michael.” He grinned at me, resembling a six-year old getting his favorite toy at Christmas.
“How do you I’m going to make it? You’ve never heard me sing before? I could be the worst singer you have ever heard.” I asked shocked. How do these people believe in me so readily, when I even don’t?
“I can tell when people have talent –musically and in pranks.” He laughed, while starting to walk away from me. I mentally slapped myself. No more pranks around Sam. He stopped right before a ragged couch, and laid down on it. Winking at me before Matt came by my side.
“Scar, the microphone’s right behind you.” He said and smiled, reminding me about all those other times he helped me when I was down, and encouraged me when I was totally sinking in my own stupidity.
“Hey, you’re not going to wish me good luck? Say I’m going to be fine?” I replied playfully. My lips curling back into a smile.
“Trust me, your going to do fine, the next practice is this Sunday, ok? Make sure you’re not late.” He teasingly said, and then walked to the open chair next to Holly. It looked like Holly'd finished disciplining Michael. I kinda felt bad for him. I hoped I never caught Holly's wrath.
