Kisame stepped out of the red room. Blood painted the walls and floor similarly to his skin. His retired Jounin sense guided him to the second examination room where they'd pick up the survivors then receive their headbands.
Eleven survivors from his room. Out of the thirty it wasn't a bad number. He'd taken out a fair number of his classmates himself, the remaining graduates trailing far behind him. It was something he was used to, monster like appearance and all.
The Jounin ahead of him opened the door and it was unlike anything he'd seen. The closest comparison was maybe the desperate orphans on the streets gnawing at rats that still tried scurrying away but it didn't hold a candle to the boy in the centre of the room.
Blood coated everything, Kisame could barely tell the colour of his locks, black, under how thick the viscous liquid was layered. He was grinning, happily tearing the flesh from a severed arm and gulping it down in quick bites.
It wasn't until the eyes of the body he knelt on, knee pressed to the back of the kid's throat, blinked open did Kisame realise the poor thing was still alive. He was missing three limbs, a left leg spared from the wreckage.
Kisame found his will again as the kid started screaming before looking around to see an uncountable number of corpses strewn around. Uncountable because most bodies were missing pieces, bite marks and missing chunks of flesh the common denominator amongst the bits and pieces.
He heard the Jounin say something as he found two students he vaguely recognised, huddled together in the corner of the room. His attention went back to the kid as he moved. The arm was thrown carelessly to the side and his pointed nails dug into the now whimpering student's scalp before he pulled him up and sunk pointed teeth into his throat and pulled, permanently silencing the sobs.
Coal black eyes locked with Kisame's. A friendly wave was sent his way and Kisame found himself matching the Kid's grin.
Wet footsteps sounded as the Jounin spared a glance to the horrified students in the corner before he walked away. Kisame tried focusing on the hallway while following the Jounin but black eyes glinted in the light as they stared at him making it very hard to not look over.
"Yukiru," A mischievous voice introduced quietly. Kisame looked down at the bloodied claws that were offered before meeting it with his own blood covered blue hand. The two shook hands.
"Hoshigaki Kisame."
They were brought into a large room and Kisame vaguely noted how Yukiru stepped a bit closer to him as the Jounin he's called sensei turned to face the group.
The rest of the students, now genin, rushed to catch up from the distance they'd established in the walk up to the room, still finding room to stand a bit away from him and the boy.
"Congratulations," The Jounin said dryly. He tossed standard Kiri headbands to each of the genin in the room.
"You will receive your posts now and be dispatched tomorrow," He finished before retrieving a scroll from a Kiri ANBU that quickly disappeared as soon as it had appeared. Kisame could see Yukiru's awed expression at the ANBU's presence.
The other genin looked horrified at being sent out to war so quickly but Kisame couldn't help but expect it, mid war and all.
A resigned look passed over each of them as their name and posts were called out, far from Kiri and far from any home they might have had, family if they were lucky.
"Hoshigaki, you will work under Fuguki-sama, report to the Mizukage's office tomorrow," He blinked in surprise before giving the Jounin a nod and standing with his back a little straighter. This was his chance, a position under one of the Seven Swordsmen of the mist.
"Yukiru, Hunter nin corps, report to the Mizukage tomorrow," there was another gasp from the other genin as Yukiru's post was announced. The boy in question gave the Jounin a mocking salute and a grin.
The other genin fled as they were dismissed. A mix of not wanting to be around him, and maybe Yukiru, but also their limited time in the village was Kisame's guess for their urgency.
He turned to leave as well, giving the ever grinning Yukiru a nod before walking out.
