Prologue : Beta testing mode

MONDAY, 1:07 pm.

SAM AND ZIEN'S ONLINE SCHOOL WAS FINALLY FINISHED. As usual, after leaving the Zoom meeting, Zien immediately asked Sam if they could VC on Discord.

"Hey~!" Zien greeted, "Helloooo!" Sam responded. Usually, they would read some novels or watch a series, but Zien wanted to play Genshin impact with Sam.

"Uh, can you play Genshin with me today?" She asked, looking up at the computer monitor. "Oh, I actually can. Can you help me farm for primo's?" Sam inquired, quickly hopping onto Genshin.

"Mhm, sure."

Zien clicks the join world button, and the two play Genshin. Since it's the first time they can play this week, they had a lot of dailies they need to finish. Zien quickly finishes hers and helps Sam with exploring the new region Fontaine.

As her finger hovered over the claim button for the dropped artifact loot on the ground, Zien spoke up. "Oh there's some freemos on the mail, have you claimed those yet?" She inquired. "No. I'll check."

"Question~ What region do you not like the most? Like honestly, for me, Inazuma is pretty but I do not really like it. It just made me feel a bit unwelcome, and the puzzles are so- ...mhm." Zien complained as Sam quickly claims her freemos and thinks. This was how their usual conversations went, one of them would usually ask something to keep the conversation alive.

"Uh, well, I like Sumeru but I don't really like the desert, if I went there it would definitely activate my rashes." Sam finally replied.

"Ohh..." Zien replied as she clicks the official Genshin impact discord since a red notification dot was annoying her. "Huh? Ah, Sam have you checked the Official Genshin impact discord? There's an announcement about...a new mode or something? I dunno, maybe try and check. It's a beta testing for something."

"Oh alright wait-"

"WOAH." Sam exclaimed, shocked, Zien asked what's wrong. "It says here the picked beta testers can get 10 wishes, 4k primos, 500,000 mora, and 3 adventures experience." She stated.

Excited, the two quickly sign up for the beta test and hoped they would get picked. Though they did know they were signing up alongside thousands of people, they had a tiny bit of hope that they would get picked.

The questions weren't really what they expected, it had the usual "name" and "Gmail account", it also had scenario questions like "If you were taking a stroll outside and a boar comes charging at you, what do you do?" And some other Genshin related stuff.. yet the two didn't hesitate to answer the question, even sharing each other's answers and getting a giggle out of the stupid questions.

6:56PM

"Sam do you wanna do anything else? My Ipad needs to charge I can't really play much anymore," Zien said as she sipped on her water bottle. "Can I lore dump on you?" Sam replied, before talking about characters that she wrote herself.

As Zien scrolled on her TikTok browser, she came across a Genshin fan. Those Genshin fans. As they look at the post in annoyance, Sam jokingly stated "If I see one of these guys in real life I would punch them honestly," which earned a laugh from Zien.

The two girls talked about school work the rest of the evening, then back to the Genshin after getting informed that the start of the beta test was tomorrow, and if they get picked, well, they're really lucky.

It's apparently teased that there was going to be a new gacha system, "we can finally pet the cats and dogs" by a reddit user, and they're going to add a first person mode?

"These features seem a lot like VR games don't you think?" Zien said with a slight yawn. Sam munched on her food before speaking, "Imagine if they isekai us in the game LMAO!" Zien chuckled. "LOL, that'll be so funny." She yawned again.

"..I think it's a bit late now... I'm getting sleepy. Let's just chat since I have to go back home to my grandma's."

"Oh alright. Bye then!" Sam responded.

"Byeeee!"

Just like that, The call ended. Sam looked at the monitor for a moment before getting up from her seat and cleaning up, whilst Zien pulled the cable and informed her mother that'll she'll be going home now.

Sam layed in her bed, immediately chatting Zien who just got back home and was was cleaning up her unmade bed the she forgot to do since she was late for class earlier,

As Sam was typing out a gossip, Zien's eyes started to flutters and her phone fell on her, causing her to wince and quickly open her eyes once more.

With that, Zien's phone dropped and she drifted onto Dreamworld.

Sam who was still not sleepy, ended up just writing more things and talking with her other friends who were still awake. Her eyes darting onto her discord chat boxes Incase someone from the Genshin impact team contacts her if she may have been picked.

11:58PM

Sam finally began to feel sleepy, she did have school early the next day. She sighed and laid on her bed, finally closing her eyes.

But as the clock hand moved towards 12am, a very bright light quickly ingulfed the girl, almost blinding her and snapping her out of her sleepy state.

"Huh...? WHAT IS-!"
