A kobold youngling once found a dragon egg, lost into the shadows of a forest, he took him and his family, though worried, raised the young dragon when he hatched. They were more than friends, they were brothers, the bond of them as strong, but soon everyone would come to realize that too.
The dragon started to grow too big for their house, showing him to the villagers was the only option at that point, and well, they didn't like it, to say the least.
The speaker demanded the dragon to be gone, and with a heavy heart, Rorv and his family would force him away, with a last watery look at them.
A young dragon now facing himself alone in the forest, his next years were not easy, but he survived, he grew ever stronger, but one particular feeling was growing on him, the hate of kobolds...
20 years would have passed since then, Rorv was an adult with his own family now, his parents long gone, and so was partially, his connection with Rarrouthor
One day however, a couple of dragons had moved to a mountain nearby, the villagers were worried about this, and decided that a speaker should come forth to talk with the dragons, offer their submission. Courage was lacking, but Rorv had a peculiar feeling, he volunteered to go, even if his family wasn't so happy by the decision.
He wasn't worried, for his own younglings would known their dad as the one who faced the dragons. There was no shame in giving himself up to the greater good.
He departed into the journey to climb the mountain, it was an extremely dangerous task, but kobolds were miners, climbing mountains for ores were part of their lives, tools made the situation easier, he climbed the mountain, exhausted after two days, and faced a dark void into the lair.
A particular low tone snore come out of it, in fact, there were two distinct ones. The kobold hold his hands into fists, it was now or never...
"Dragons! Rorv comes here in name of our village! Rorv seek submission and protection under your watchful eyes!"
The kobold yelled, almost regretting afterwards, two pairs of orangish-red eyes appeared in the dark void in front of him, in these times, there was no courage, no will, there was no kobold who would stand firm.
One of them moved forward, quickly appearing into the light, the reddish scales.
"Kobold... There's NOTHING to protect from your little dirty huts. In fact, I think I am going to burn them right now!"
Rorv shaked his little legs, he was the speaker, the sacrifice if needed, this was not suppose to happen, anything but the village, he came out there to protect his family in the first place.
"N-No! P-Please! Smash Rorv! Eat Rorv! But don't go to village!!!"
The kobold plead, and from heavy footsteps' march to the outside, the dragon halted for a moment, slowly turning his head back.
"R-Rorv?"
The dragon shoked his head, and so did the kobold
"R-Rau?"
The dragon turned away from the entrance, returning to where he was. Both of them kept looking at each other for a long moment.
"I didn't think you would remember me, Rorv..."
The dragon let out a long smoky sigh
"R-Rorv is sorry. Rau... Rorv's parents and him never wanted you to be gone, b-but Rau so young! Villagers would kill Rau if he stayed!"
The kobold said, still with his legs shaking a bit
"Where are your... Our parents?"
"Mar and Far... gone! Rorv feels sorry to say. Smashed by big rocks who fell out of big huge mountain."
