He woke up to some sort of weird smell.
It wasn't often that the Academy let him go back home for a while.
Come to think of it... Wasn't that field trip for those Paldean kids coming up soon?
Oh, boy, his Sis was definitely not going to like this.
Coming out of his room, he followed the smell into the kitchen...
...only to find a Pokémon dumping...uh...a mushed-up mix of...different Berries... probably... into a pan.
There was a mask placed on the table, most likely belonging to it, but...
The thing itself was a more pressing matter.
It had a leafy cloak on of different shades of green...probably because they were different leaves...probably even grass too...and that couldn't let him see its arms, it had horns, and fangs...
He had a feeling this had some resemblance to the ogre he'd read about, but...
It sure didn't look like this.
Especially since it was small, and had a cute face, and—
No! Kieran! You're not supposed to think about that right now!
"Hey, Kiki, I smelled something coming from here, and I was wonderin' if—"
Carmine came in right at this moment and wasn't able to finish what she was about to say when she saw what was going on.
Her eyes focused onto the Pokémon in the room.
Then to her brother.
Then the Pokémon again.
Then him again.
"...Kiki...?"
"...Yeah...?"
"...Why."
"I-I dunno how it got in!" he sputtered. "Maybe the door was open or somethin', I didn't do anything!"
"Look, that doesn't matter right now, what matters is HOW IS THAT THING EVEN ABLE TO COOK?!"
Pon pon?
Whatever that mess of stuff even was in that pan, she didn't even want to know at this point.
Was that thing wanting her to eat it?
Popon.
After a while of staring at that mess, the siblings finally decided to take a bite of it.
Oh, sweet Arceus, it tasted horrible.
All of the Berries' flavors all at once mixing poorly made Carmine nearly choke.
The Pokémon briefly watched the two before looking down at the food and decided to taste it itself.
It gagged as soon as it put some of that stuff in its mouth, as if even it knew...
"Y-yeah, it's bad," Kieran coughed.
The Pokémon, to the siblings' surprise, nodded in agreement.
Maybe this was the beginning of a new friendship.
