The Bunny And His Dolly

Chapter 3

It had been around 30 minutes and Jax was in his room, sitting on his bed talking to his centipedes which were taken oi from the jar on his nightstand.

"I know right! How dare that new sucker embarrass me like that."

And suddenly there was a knock on the door.

"Uhm, Jax? Who are you talking to?" Questioned a familiar soft voice. Oh, it was just Ragatha. 

"Ugh nothing dolly. Go away."

"Oh. You okay though, Jax?"

"Yes I'm fine. Why are you asking anyway?"

"You sound very- well- MORE annoyed than usual."

"I thought I was the annoying one, not the one being annoyed." Said Jax as he put his centipedes back in the jar.

"Not the point. Caine said to come back. He wasn't done explaining the adventure-"

"You only realised now that I was gone?"

"What!? Nooo-"

"Then why did you not fetch me earlier?"

Silence.

"Too busy fantasizing over Xeno huh? He's just an NPC."

Not even Jax knew why Xeno bothered him so much. Was it because Caine decided he'd be part of the circus? Whatever the reason was, it gave him a sharp pain in his stomach. He didn't like it. Jealousy, perhaps? Wait what- 

What could Jax possibly be jealous of? And suddenly the louder knocks on the door brought him back to reality- DIGITAL reality.

"Jax?? Jax!"

He unlocked the door and opened it, staring down at the red haired doll.

"Yeah."

"C-come on."

Ragatha walked along the wide halls of the circus in the direction of where Caine and the others were, Jax followed.

"Uhm." Started Ragatha as the took a sideways glance to the purple bunny. "What do you mean, 'fantasizing' over an NPC?"

Jax glanced at Ragatha. "Ugh nothing. It's just- you know what it's hard to explain. I don't even know myself. I just had this feeling in my stomach and it was NOT butterflies. I just-"

Then Jax realised who he was talking to.

"Wait, why am I spilling my problems out on you?"

"So there IS a problem?" Ragatha replied.

"NO! Just stop asking questions. Curiosity kills you know, and I thought a clever girl like you would've known that."

"Welp! There's no harm in asking a simple question, not like pain can be felt here."

"How old are you anyway? Like, 30? You should know better than sticking your nose into people's businesses."

"Jax, I didn't mean to come across like that. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable or anything- but you can always tell me if something is wrong."

"Wait a second." Jax stopped walking. "Damn, your 30 already?"

"Yep. Hard to believe."

Jax looked at her and stared for a few seconds. "But you look so young and I just don't get it.."

Ragatha chuckled, "I guess that's what this world does to you aye?"

"Yeah. Pomni must be 18 in the real world then right?? Because she looks as if she's 14 here-"

"-Yeah no, Jax. I'm pretty sure she's older than you."

...

"WHAT?"

"Hey, hey let's go, we don't wanna be late. Caine said we should get to know Xeno. I think he really wants us to be friends with him. He's kinda into the idea of making advanced NPCs now."

"Oh right, Xeno. Forgot about that guy."

They walked for 5 more minutes until the two arrived at the main hall where everyone else was.

Caine was to be see floating, he took a look at the door where Ragatha and jax had came out of, "Ah yes Ragatha! You brought him."

"Mhm!"

Behind Caine there was Kinger, shivering at the sight of a new NPC, no doubt, afraid. Zooble at least TRIED to make an effort with Xeno as it could be seen that she was attempting a conversation with him. Gangle was standing next to Zooble unsure of what to do. Socialising wasn't really her thing, but neither was it Zoobles. The most sociable in the gang was, obviously, Ragatha which is why Caine had her be the one to show Xeno around and get to know him the most.

"Come on over here Ragatha!" The ringleader said happily.

Ragatha skipped as usual to him and asked what he needs her to do now. Meanwhile, Jax was just existing in the background, like Gangle, unsure of what to do. He could just go break her comedy mask. Oh yeah actually that would be fun. And so he went to her.

"Listen Ragatha," Caine began as he fiddled with his fingers," I actually have something TERRIFIC in mind. Not so long ago, I created A WHOLE OTHER MAP. A park in fact! And that's how we're gonna settle things with Xeno. You got that? I AM RELYING ON YOU TO KEEP THIS TOGETHER OKAY? Make sure the others get along just fine with him as well."

It took a moment for Ragatha to process what be just said, "You got it Caine! I wont let you down!"

"Great! This is why I trust you most," he said definitely not looking at Zooble or Jax. Jax could literally be seen pushing Gangle on the floor and breaking her comedy mask. Ouch.

"COUGH COUGH! ATTENTION ALL! PLEASE FOLLOW ME!"

And Caine led the gang and Xeno through a loading screen on the edge of the circus  to his new digital map; a park.
