THE BATTLEMENTS FOR THE WAR AGAINST THE CRAB FEEDER truly was not a place for a pregnant Princess of the Realm. But Aimere was not hearing it... They announced the pregnancy three weeks in.
No one questioned them, and anyone who had questions was wise enough to keep them to themselves, the only person who spoke against it was Lord Corlys.
"So you are expecting a babe," Corlys comments as she looks at him, he catches her alone for a moment and decides to speak to the young Princess one-on-one, "congratulations."
"Thank you, Uncle," Aimere smiles at him, "I am very excited-"
"Are you?" Corlys asked, "I don't mean no disrespect, but Princess, your mother died on the birthing bed... Are you not frightened?"
Aimere looks downward, "I cannot say I am not frightened by this aspect but it is expected, it always is with Targaryens wedding Targaryens, My Lord."
"And the battlement is a place for a pregnancy?" Corlys asked with raised eyebrows.
"I will not discuss with you any further, My Lord," Aimere swiftly walks away.
As she storms off she hears her name be called.
"Aimere!"
A smile rises on her face, "Laenor!"
Aimere turns and hugs her cousin!
"I've heard you finally married," Laenor comments with a smirk, "to Daemon?"
Aimere blushes, "maybe..."
"I knew you always liked him," Laenor boasts.
"Oh gods..."
"So you're pregnant as well?"
"Maybe..."
"Dear cousin," Laenor smiles, "I'm happy for you but... Do you think this is a safe place for a pregnancy?"
"Not you too," Aimere groans.
"It's the truth, cousin," Laenor points out, "I want to ensure you are protected... Maybe... You should return to Kingslanding."
"You are mad," Aimere shook her head, "my father would never allow me back after everything I've done."
"You think that lowly of your father's love for you?" Laenor asked.
Aimere shrugs, "it's my father. He literally sacrificed my mother for the chance of a son. Now, he's given the Heir of the Throne to Rhaenyra, and I've married Daemon. Who by the way has another wife still," Laenor nods chuckling, "and... I'm carrying his child. Do you truly think my father holds me that highly?"
"Sounds very complicated but," Laenor hugs her one more time, "it's okay, we'll handle it."
A FEW WEEKS IN
Aimere had grown a baby bump as she stayed in camp every time there was a battle but... She couldn't deny the pit in her stomach every time Daemon flew off to battle. It made her worry for her husband and her unborn babe.
Daemon came back from the battle to his wife as he smiles, "look at you," he took off his helmet and put it down, before grabbing her and kissing her, "you are glowing."
"Maybe glowing from stress," Aimere comments.
"I'm fine, you can see that," Daemon told her, "we," he touches her bump, "we are fine."
Aimere smiles, "I love you."
"I love you too," Daemon kisses her again.
They returned to their tent where Daemon undressed, Aimere helped him take off his armor, once he was shirtless she noticed the new scars.
