CHAPTER 2:
HE LOOKS FRUSTRATED. Darren that is. It was funny to watch.
I cross one leg over the other and study him, "I'm a very, very clean teenager, that's who I am, Darren Walker, age thirty-three, no wife, no kids. Arrested for the murders of Karen Young, Serenity Lowes and Darby Perry...all ruled out due to alibis given by Ender here, you're a loyal hacker to the great billionaire, but what you don't have in that pristine pocket of yours is power." I say slowly, the last part almost spitting from my lips as Eliot tenses in his seat.
Darren slowly closes his laptop, and looks at Eliot, "You idiot."
Ender makes one move, barely visible and each of them still. Even the guards that eye me closely, I study the man holding my contract where he sits next to Darren, "She wants shared ownerships of all your companies, she wants protection, discretion and many little requests where some don't even deserve a clause, she's merely showing off with this contract. It appears she's the smartest of all her siblings, a hacker who can alter files, leave without traces and still trick...Darren over here. Smart, cunning, looks squeaky clean but can be sneakier than a lawyer." Ender's attorney swallows.
"Where's my milkshake?" I ask aloud.
Eliot facepalms.
Darren's eye twitches.
I smile, for real this time, "So many powerful men in this knock-off vehicle and I've rendered you obvious idiots to dead silence. That, gentlemen...is power. Setting the scene of sisters and parents being worried, now that was real, you can't fake that, but what you can do, is set it to your advantage. But, as of right now, you, Ender Millennium, are going to personally read my contract, while I have a good, fun night at my friend, Landon's place right there. Did you know that his mother is Danielle Sanchez?" I ask him, facing him.
Darren pinches the bridge of his nose, "How the fuck do you know-"
Ender raises a tattooed hand, stopping him with it and faces me. A knock echoes on the door behind me, my window rolls down, I smile as I grab my milkshake, "Thank you," I say to the guard who stares stoically, but him and his co-workers outside are listening vehemently on the comms, the window rolls back up, I turn to face my fiancé, his caramel eyes are penetrating mine.
I suck up the straw, he intertwines his fingers, "Pretty little liars is on Netflix?" He murmurs in question, soft question, almost making me still.
"You threatened to destroy my family exactly one fortnight ago?" I state slowly.
He studies me, "I did." He accents with perfectly straight whitened teeth. The sad number of times I've been to the dentist due to my lollie addiction made me kind of hate him right now.
I knew he wouldn't deny it, "Did you mean it?"
He just stares at me closely, "When I said it; yes." But now he's not so sure.
Smart answer.
I purse my lips before holding my hand out, palm up, "I need one USB that can handle three hard drives, your trial can only be won with these files and your opposing team has you where they want you, which is why Darren released his temper and revealed his frustrations about this Danielle matter. I need fifteen minutes, the individual USB and an apology for threatening my family." I state, my eyes locking onto his.
He catches the USB Darren was ordered to give him, he places it in my palm, "I'm sorry for threatening your family. I have now learned my lesson." He says gently.
I hand him my milkshake, "If a drop of this is drunk, I will know and then I will reek havoc on you. Fifteen minutes, do not leave this spot." I point at him, grabbing the door and getting out, his guards straighten, "At ease, fellas. Honestly, hand grenades are more subtle than the lot of you." I wave them off, hearing a choking sound from one of them, coughing out while the other nudges him behind me. I step inside and giggle, greeting a few other students and seeing Eden fully occupied, along with most others here, I move upstairs and use my device to cut off the cameras before stepping into a wired office, unlocking it with a swipe card before I step in and straight for the desktops.
