CHAPTER 6:

ONCE I END the call with Eden, I step out of the room and move back onto the couch beside Ender, "Now, why don't we get down to watching the next episode?" I grin, looking for the remote, covering a yawn just to play the game right.

Ender grabs my hand gently, "You're looking tired, darling, why not a nap, hmm?" He wonders, I give him a droopy smile and he clicks his fingers for one of his maids to help me towards my room. All of them looked so relieved that I was getting sleepy. I changed into a more comfortable attire before hitting the bed with a soft symphony hum under my lips.

"Thank you both." I overhear Ender murmur before moving closer to the bed. I await what he does, but the sheets cover me and a soft, feather-like kiss is pressed against my temple, "Goodnight, my darling." He whispers down to me. I tiredly wave him bye, he chuckles above me. I was young when I first understood the effects of handling blood flow when being drugged. The way it helps to contain an adrenaline boost in a ring or necklace, or something easily capable of being on you. I sit up once his car leaves the house and run a scanner to ensure the cameras that were in this room wouldn't record anything as I lie back and stare up at the ceiling. He'd done it so that I wouldn't go to the bonfire, sneaky and thick-headed as he was, I understood the potential dangers headed my way and the unnecessary worry fluttering his way.

Now, he thought I was fast asleep in a heavy, drug-induced nap.

If I didn't know any better, I would've been so far behind and gullible to his demonic attributes.

I kept my mouth shut over the three days he'd been gone, so when his SUV showed up after school one day, Darren opened my door for me and I stepped in, gaining a kiss on the cheek by none other than Ender, he has a gift basket for me on the side couch. I squeal when he brushes tickles against me while I ask about Brazil. He tells me all about a new business expansion of his, I didn't question too much of the transaction, "Making more business in South America, being the fifth largest country in such an area will be greatly advantageous for us." He explains to me.

My lips twitch up, "So, the trip was a success?" I think he felt it was successful, until it all crumbles down when I make certain to spread word of the landmark he was using to establish a new airport. That's what he was planning on using as a new importing and exporting company for all sorts of new drugs in the market. He played a dangerous game drugging me, now it was my turn as I slip an invisible slick marker of sorts against the nape of his neck. A concoction of absorbed substances that made him susceptible to talking.

A little trick I'd learned at the academy. Poisons and serums that wouldn't wreck enzymes or DNA or anything of vital importance in the human body, but enough to get the truth out of him. He sits with me outside on the porch once we return back to the house and I turn to face him, "You know, you never did tell me about your biggest rivals." I mention.

He nods, "Caine Stein, he's a German benefactor for a global oil company that uses his grid lines to smuggle nuclear weaponry between Russian and American forces. Military, navy, troops that will pay prices I need to further increase my status before the annual gathering at the end of the year. I need to be married before then to solidify my title." He explains to me, and Darren, popping out at just the right moment breaks his glass of coffee at hearing Ender say this to me. A maid sprints over as Darren curses and apologises to her, before two guards step over and Darren struts around the couch.

"Ender, what the fuck are you doing?" He roughly asks his boss.

Archer and Eliot step out too, moving around the couch, "You hope to marry me to rebuild your reputation?" I ask Ender.

He stares into my eyes, "I will marry you to rebuild my reputation, and then I'm going to make you believe I'm in love with you, when I know you're just another entitled bitch in your family. You're just more naive." He says to me, his eyes glossy.
