Chapter 1: New Kid On the Block-
It was a cold and windy winter day in my quaint hometown of Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. It was also the first day back at school, seeing as Christmas break had just ended.
Shenandoah, with a small population of about five thousand, is one of those "cute country towns" where everyone knows each other and their cousin's-next-door-neighbor's-aunt; one of those hick towns where news travels faster than the speed of light. That's why when an unfamiliar black Aston Martin pulled into the school parking lot, you could say I was more than a little intrigued. As I saw the main doors being unlocked I quickly gathered my books and headed towards the building, making sure to lock my jeep. But before I could make it inside, the mystery person hopped out of their expensive vehicle and began yelling after me, trying to get my attention.
"What?" I turned around to face a blonde-haired boy who was jogging towards me, carrying a single sheet of paper.
"I'm-new-here," he said in and out of deep pants while bending down slightly and resting his hands on his knees, allowing himself to catch his breath.
"I could tell." I muttered back, mentally groaning of annoyance.
"I-was-hoping...you could show me around?" He finished.
"Yeah, sure."
"Thanks. I'm Eddie, by the way," he replied.
"Right. I'm Amber."
... ... ...
"So, that just about does it." I finished the tour as I checked my watch, "And there's still five minutes to spare. I've gotta go put my books away, you know how to get to your first class, right?"
"Yeah." He replied with a smile.
"Well, if you need anything, feel free to ask me." I said before turning around, preparing to go to my locker.
"Hey!" Eddie called after me while grabbing my arm and spinning me around so that I faced him.
"Yes?" I replied, taking a step back from him. We were less than inches apart.
"I wanted to say thank you," he said before closing the small gap of space between us and allowing his lips to come crashing down on mine. And, in an instant, I was kissing back. Just when I realized what I was doing and was about to push Eddie off, he pulled away and said, "I'll see you around," before jogging out of my sight.
