Chapter 2: Lock and Load?

{Morning}

Navari was woken up by the sounds of bickering and smell of fresh bacon and evergreen. She slowly stretched, greeted by the cheery chirps of her slugs.

"Well good morning to you too."

After climbing out of bed, she sleepily yawned while looking through her closet for a set of clothing, eventually deciding on a black, shortsleeved shirt and ripped jeans paired with her armor and blaster, which she placed on her hip. As she walked down the stairs to the main living area, she could see Trixy and pronto yelling at her each other.

"Morning nava."

"Do they always fight like that?"

"You get used to it after a while." Eli chuckled as cord placed her breakfast in front of her. "So how'd you sleep?"

"Still getting used to everything. But at least those two are happy to see each other." She pointed at flare and burpy, who were having a blast tackling each other to the ground. "Whenever you two are ready to call it quits, you can come over and eat." She said, giving Trixy and pronto the "It's too early for this" look.

"This is not over..." Pronto whispered as he walked over to the table to take his seat.

"Mhm, keep talking pronto." Trixy warned as she herself sat down at the table.

"Cool it. You two can duel it out later. Speaking of duels, I hope you're ready nava, cause I don't go easy on people."

"Oho ho, bring it Eli Shane. Let's see if you can sling like you talk." She said, echoed by her slugs churning in anticipation.

{23 minutes later}

Eli and nava take their places. Navari puts her hair up in a ponytail, though a mess, and spins her blaster over her finger.

"Hold on flare. You'll get your glory." She whispered to the restless slug in one of her beakers.

As she's loading her blaster, she shouts as she ducks to avoid a flying ricochet slug. Eli jumps behind some cover and fires his slug buzzsaw, which Navari dodges barely. She cried out as he hit her with a grenade slug and stood over her.

"Guess I win."

"Not quite." She smirked and fired her blaster and flare took off, covering him in a spire of fire to block his view. Then she fires her arachnid slug and tied him up in her web, before kicking his feet out from underneath him. "Never get too cocky." She laughed as she fist bumped her slug.

"Guess I deserve that." Eli chuckled as she helped him up.

"Eli! Nava! You guys wanna see this!" Cord called from the house.

"That doesn't sound good." Navari said, rushing back inside.

"What is it cord?"

"We found lock and load. They're heading to quiet cavern."

"What do they want from quiet cavern?"

"Grenade slugs. If they ghoul them, they'll have an explosive arsenal. We have to stop them before they can do it."

"Navari's right, let's move. We don't have time to waste."
