Chapter 17

Priyank's POV

I was thinking of proposing Anika officially. I mean, our engagement has been finalized, but I haven't proposed to her yet, I wanted to do something my way. We were at a jewelry shop looking for a ring. This morning, Ayush and Rahul showed up at my house and dragged me out to go some shopping and spend some bro time. They all are reacting weird.

Yesterday, too, when I was out for grocery shopping and Anika panicked, She didn't let me out of sight for a moment and hugged me very tightly in bed, too. Something is going on, but they won't tell me. Anyways, now focus on ring. All are looking exactly same, how am I supposed to look for something spectacular for her. I called Manya and Nikki and asked them to come over. They both came directly after college, We all shopped for some more time and went home. Anika was already at home, cooking. When did she come? Her office got over early. I dumped all the bags on the sofa and went behind her and tapped on her shoulder.

She jumped, placing a hand over her heart, "Gosh Priyank, you scared me." She is so cute.

"Why are you so cute?" I said, pinching her cheeks.

"Do you wanna die?" She asked with a sweet smile, that's when I noticed that she was chopping vegetables.

"Nope." I said and ran from there to change into my room, I secretly hid the ring in my locker.

Anika's POV

We went to that flat, which Kavya told us about, but something was feeling off about that place. No one was home, and it had that chilly vibe in there. We searched through the flat and found that someone was living there and a gun was also found. There were lying some empty bottles on the floor too, which Kavya took as evidence and said that she would investigate it at the base. There was also a pen drive in a drawer that was at the lowest of the cabinet, I took it because it was my forte. I collected and organized all the clips from the accounts of Sarah and Tyler accounts. Guess what I found....Tyler pushed his brother from the train, and the girl who was witness was beaten to death by Sarah. At last, the case was concluded as an accident. I intend to find out what's in the pen drive, but I can't right now, especially not in front of Priyank.

He came back after changing in lower and t-shirt and sat down for dinner.

"Baby, this is delicious." He said. Whenever he calls me baby, dil mein kuch kuch hota hai, butterflies fly.

"Thanks." I said,

"Elders are flying day after tomorrow to Mysore." I told him.

"What about us?" He asked.

"Umm.. we were planning a bus trip maybe, cause it's only a 3 hour drive. Maa and Papa said that it might not be comfortable for elders, that's why they are flying in." I said. The other day, I talked to Papa, and he said that elders might feel nauseous as it was near the hill station, and there are a lot of sharp turns and cliffs.

"Who come in we?" He further asked. He is definitely having asking more questions than usual.

"Me, you, Akisha, Ayush, Kavya, Manya, Nikki, Yash, Rahul, Jay, and if Kavya wants to bring a +1." I said, eating.

"Ummm, I see." He said chewing his meal.

"Don't worry, everything is booked and ready, and I guarantee you that you all will have a great time there." I reassured him.

"I certainly don't doubt that." He said, getting up and taking both of our plates to sink.

I sat on the kitchen counter while he washed the dishes.

"Is there something going on? Or do you want to tell me something?" He asked out of nowhere.

"Nope. Why?" I asked. He came to me and held me from the waist.

"Are you sure?" He asked, leaning closer, I start feeling toxicated when he is so close. And he knows the effect he has on me.

"Yupp 100% sure." I said, leaning in more till our lips were just touching. Just then, our front door burst open, and Ayush came running into the kitchen.

"Doorbell is there for a reason, dude." Priyank yelled as Ayush stood there watching us.

"Really sorry to you, lovebirds, but whatever happens, Priyank, don't come down. I repeat, DON't." He said and left. I went to the window and peeked out from it, and the tons of reporters were present there with Sarah! Bitch was here again. I sighed audibly. I saw Akisha descending down from her car with Kavya and Yash and Rahul from another car. Soon we were all sitting in the living room.

"I can't take it anymore." I said getting up, everyone looked at me.

"I am sorry, all this is happening because of me." Priyank said holding his head in his hands.

"Oh no no no, you don't get to blame yourself." I said holding his face between my palms.

"Bhabhi, you should see this." Rahul said handing me his phone.

That reporter was speaking so ill of me and Sarah was giving her and more, how dare she.

"How can they insult you like that?" Akisha shouted and got up.

"That's what they do, ignore them for now." I said holding her hand, when I turned to look at Priyank, he was already at front door, going down. Oh Shit!!!! I ran behind him and everyone behind me.
