Getting the house spot, Jehlan and I couldn't be happier.
After weeks for saving, materials for the construction came and my uncle did the lineout for the foundation.
And it wasn't all.
Jehlan's God father got help through the government for additional help on the house, so we could spend our own money for things we needed for the interior.
It's feels like Christmas for our families, to be working on a project together because they too believe in our relationship.
There's never a doubt from them, but from our other families and community members.
Dem bad minded.
Our house will have a one bedroom, an hall, bathroom and a small verandah. The laundry area will be outside, but Jehlan keeps thinking bigger and better.
Something we didn't have the money for as yet.
Though I fear he'll join in on the scamming and keep it a secret from me. Or tries to, maybe he'll do something that I won't be aware of. He has an habit of doing so.
"A yuh man yuh fih a wuk out enuh." Daddy looks down at me in the corner of his eyes.
"My daddy comes first in everything." I teased, watching him blush.
"Guh weh." He brushes me off.
Laughing, I inspected the clothing line. "It sturdy enough?"
"After yuh naw use the line yet. A burch this enuh, it go grow and set with the tree." He explains as if I didn't grow up and see what he uses for our clothing line. "A two machete yuh man fih buy."
He's looking at me under style and I kept blushing.
"Watch eh cheek bone." He laughs, climbing down the ladder.
"Stop trouble mih nuh, daddy." I turned, getting the bamboo stick to put the line up.
"Mih daughter turn big ooman." He continues.
"Mih still likkle."
"Yuh wish. Ya work, ya guh school, yuh have yuh ID, yuh deh build house wid yuh man..." He teases me further and I laughed out.
"Mih cyaw bother wid yuh enuh."
"Kyle!" Mommy calls him and he hissed.
"Yes De'arra?" He answered, sounding stressed all of a sudden.
"Jayden seh fih look out for Rasta truck. More things a come up from the hardware." She informs him as he smiled.
"Alright." He tells her.
"Why dih first expression?" I inquired, standing akimbo.
"Why dat look?" He looks me up and down. "Thank God, Jehlan a tek yuh offa mih back."
"Daddy!" I frowned, feeling offended.
All he does was laugh.
"A true ting." He ignores me and eyed the property. "Mih daughter starts feather and fly outta dih nest."
"Mih go fly in when mih want worm suh stay deh."
"Mussi mad." He playfully glares at me.
I laughed, seeing Jehlan riding up towards us.
"Gwaan tu yuh man and stop bothering mih." He rushes.
Folding my arms again, I glared at him and pout.
