Fur Will Fly

The cat didn't realize its big mistake by glaring at the baby bird. Next thing he knows, not only do the dogs start advancing on him, but a crazy-eyed squirrel is suddenly on his back pulling his fur!

"OWE, OWE!" He tries to twist and turn to get the crazy squirrel off his back. He looks to Tannie, the Dog Park Hero, "Save me from this rabid thing!"

The boys just sit down, tongues lolling out of their mouths as they watch Fred fling cat fur everywhere. The baby bird has snuggled deeper into Min Holly's warm, curly fur, burying its head.

Min Holy gently licks the baby bird, "It's okay; you're safe here."

Fred yells, "You dirty cat! I know what you did to Henry's mother! She was my friend!!"

In all the chaos, no one noticed a large cat jumping up on the fence while watching the melee.

"STOP THIS INSTANT!"

Fred pauses mid-fur pull, and the cat suddenly becomes as still as a statue.

"Mom?" the grumpy cat asks, embarrassed at being caught out.

"Mister, you are in so much trouble! Have you been harassing the Birds again? I have told you time and again to leave them alone!"

"But mom, dad said . . ."

"SHUT IT! Go and clean your litter box NOW!"

"But mom . . ."

"Don't you 'but mom me.' Go home right now. I will talk to you when I get there."

Fred lets go and drops to the grass. The cat sulks away, but every once in a while, he looks back before jumping over the fence.

Fred approaches the large cat and says, "Hi, Mrs. Kim Paws. I'm sorry if I hurt him, but I was trying to help save little Henry."

She looks around, "Where is he? Is he ok?"

She watched Min Holly move one paw, and there, nestled into his fur, was Henry. "Is he alright?"

Min Holly nods, "I think he's just scared and sad but not injured."

Fred says, "Oh, excuse my rudeness. Fellas, this is Mrs. Kim Paws, our neighborhood watch leader."

Fred stands on his hind feet and points to the boys, "Noona, this is Jung Mickey, Min Holly, and Kim Yeontan."

She nodded, "Annyeong, I apologize for my son. I can assure you he will be dealt with at home."

Fred starts to grimace, "Litter box duty."

She nods, "Yes, his and those of his siblings for a month and no cat nip for three."

"WOW, that is harsh but justified." Fred nods his approval.

"Yes, it should be more than that after what he did."

She walks to Min Holly and leans her face close to where Henry is snuggled in. "Henry, love? You can come out now."

Little Henry peeks out with tears in his eyes, "Auntie, I no longer have a mommy."

Mrs. Kim Paws's eyes start to tear up, and she gently licks his little face with her rough tongue. "I know, my love, and I am so sad. I know Mr. and Mrs. Bluejae would love to have you live with them."

Seeing a big dog coming out of the house, she says, "Well, if you need me. Fred knows how to get in touch.  Under the circumstances, I can't take little Henry with me, but please, take care of him for me." She jumps back over the fence and is gone.

Bam comes walking over with his dad by his side. "What is going on . . ." Jungkook sees the baby bird and carefully picks him up in his hands. J Hope comes out to see what caused Bam to frantically pull JK out of the house.

"Oh, such a cute little bird." J Hope looks at the little bird now cupped in Jungkook's hand. He reaches out and softly pets Henry's little head.

"He must have fallen out of the tree, " Jungkook says with a worried look as he gives Henry a small caress on his tiny body.

Fred had jumped into the tree and carefully knocked Henry's home nest to the ground. He knew Henry was too young to fly home, and his mom wasn't coming back, so he thought it best to push the nest out of the tree, hoping they would understand.

Jungkook is looking around the tree and sees the empty bird nest. "Oh no, this must be his nest. I wonder if something happened to his mom. I don't see any other birds around."

J Hope reaches out, takes little Henry in his hand, and kisses the top of his head: "Let's get the baby to the vet and make sure the little one is okay. The vet has a friend who does wild bird rescue. I can stop by there, taking Mickey back to my sisters. They will take good care of this little one until it can live on its own."

Fred fist pumps the air, "Yes! They understand."

Bam looks up at Fred and softly woofs, "Great idea, Freddy boy."

 Fred just smiles and scurries away, chattering, "See you guys later. I have a date with a beautiful lady squirrel."

They all woof at Fred, "Have fun!"

 "See you later."  

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" 

Min Holly nose bumps Bam, "What do you mean Maknae by don't do anything you wouldn't do?"

Bam looks away, embarrassed. "Oh, nothing. I just heard that phrase somewhere before." He glances over at his dad.

Min Holly rolls his eyes as they follow Jungkook and J Hope back inside.
