Chapter 7 - Friendship and French Fries

Because Fries Before Guys is a Lifestyle

In their dorm room, Aurora and Lily sat in silence. Aurora, still contemplating what to do, was soon joined by Chloe, who entered with a pizza, eliciting applause from Lily.

As Aurora decided to disclose the events to Lily and Chloe, she made it clear that no one should be informed. Lily and Chloe attempted to suggest possible solutions, but seeing Aurora's hesitation, they held back.

Upon hearing about Olivia's betrayal, Lily and Chloe expressed anger and disappointment. They voiced their frustration, emphasizing how Olivia had betrayed their friendship.

"That's why she wasn't here today. That's unacceptable," Lily exclaimed.

Chloe added, "She deserves the worst. We treated her like our friend. Just wait until the boys find out."

Chloe, always the more vocal one, added, "And after all the times we covered for her, saved her from Britney's schemes. She just threw it all away."

I chimed in softly, "I never expected Olivia to be a part of something like this. It's heartbreaking."

Lily, her frustration evident, replied, "We need to make her realize what she's done. No one messes with our girl like this."

Aurora, overwhelmed by the situation, didn't contribute much to the conversation. The dorm room atmosphere was tense as we contemplated the implications of Olivia's actions.

As we all sat together during lunch, the weight of recent events pressed heavily on me. I kept my silence, trying to navigate through the emotions swirling within. Chloe and Lily, understanding my need for discretion, chose to reveal Olivia's betrayal to Lucas, Leo, and Ambrose while keeping certain details veiled.

In the midst of the conversation, Ambrose sought to lock eyes with me, perhaps searching for an explanation. However, I made a deliberate effort to evade his gaze, the turmoil in my heart reflected in my determined avoidance.

The air felt heavy as Chloe and Lily began recounting Olivia's betrayal, carefully choosing which details to reveal. I kept my gaze fixed on my food, avoiding eye contact with anyone. The weight of the situation sat heavily on my shoulders.

As Chloe and Lily spoke, the atmosphere around the table grew tense. Ambrose tried to meet my gaze, seeking an explanation, but I remained resolute in my silence.

Chloe, with frustration evident in her voice, said, "You won't believe what Olivia did. It's a complete betrayal."

Lily added, "We promised Aurora not to spill everything, but it's bad."

The boys, sensing the severity of the situation, looked at each other in anticipation. Ambrose, unable to contain his curiosity, attempted to meet my gaze once more, but I continued to avoid it.

Leo, growing impatient, asked, "What happened? Why the secrecy?"

Chloe sighed and replied, "Olivia sided with Britney. She threatened Aurora with her scholarship. It's a mess."

Lucas clenched his fists, his expression darkening. "Are you serious? Olivia did that?"

Ambrose, his usual calm demeanor replaced by anger, added, "She threatened Aurora's scholarship? That's unacceptable."

The table was engulfed in a heavy silence as the boys processed the shocking revelation. I remained silent, grappling with my emotions, while the others exchanged glances, their anger simmering beneath the surface.

Amidst the lingering tension, Lucas took the initiative to address the situation. "Britney can't do a thing to harm you, Aurora. We've got your back, always."

Lily, determined to uplift the mood, suggested, "Let's proceed with our shopping day. Aurora, you deserve a break. And don't worry about anything; it's on me today, guys."

The transition to a brighter atmosphere began as the group rallied to lift my spirits. Despite the shadows of recent events, the prospect of a carefree shopping day with friends offered a glimmer of solace.

As we, the group ventured into the bustling mall, Chloe's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Alright, team! Let's conquer the world of fashion!" she declared, leading the way to the trendiest stores.

Lily, surprisingly bold that day, picked out a vibrant ensemble that contrasted her usual style. "What do you think?" she asked, twirling to showcase her newfound confidence. Everyone applauded, and even Ambrose couldn't resist a compliment.

Lucas and Leo, the comic duo, turned the shopping trip into a hilarious adventure. "Who knew fashion could be so entertaining?" Lucas quipped, holding an avant-garde hat on his head. Leo, with a deadpan expression, remarked, "I thought clothes were meant to cover, not start a revolution."

Ambrose, leaning against a store pillar, observed the chaos with a smirk. "Fashion, my friends, is a battlefield. Choose your weapons wisely." He gestured towards a display of extravagant accessories.

As the shopping bags accumulated, Chloe decided to treat everyone to a snack. "Let's refuel, my fabulous companions! Onward to the food court!" she announced, leading the group with a dramatic flourish.

Amidst bites of pizza and sips of sodas, the conversations flowed seamlessly. Lily playfully teased Lucas about his newfound interest in scarves, while Chloe shared her philosophy on the art of mixing patterns. Ambrose, ever the enigma, offered cryptic advice on choosing the perfect pair of shoes.

The laughter echoed through the mall, transcending the confines of worries and betrayals. In those moments, the bonds of friendship strengthened, and the joy of companionship prevailed over adversity.

As everyone fought over the last slice of pizza, it became a crazy scene in the food court. Chloe declared it the "Pizza of Destiny," sparking arguments and debates about who deserved it.

The pizza war was declared.

The battle for the last slice escalated into a full-blown pizza war. Lily argued passionately, "I practically burned calories lifting those shopping bags; I need the energy!"

Leo chimed in, "My metabolism is faster. I need it more!"

Chloe, with her usual flair for the dramatic, declared, "This isn't just a slice; it's a symbol of our friendship! The Pizza of Destiny must be earned!"

Lucas, trying to keep the peace, said, "Why don't we just split it evenly?"

But the debate continued, with everyone presenting their case for why they deserved that final slice. The once-harmonious shopping day transformed into a comical pizza battleground.

The once-delicious slices transformed into comedic weapons, and cheese became the battlefield's ammunition. Amid the laughter and mayhem, the last slice somehow found its way into my hands. A surprised hush fell over the group as they stared at me - the typically reserved Aurora - now holding the coveted slice.

I responded with a sheepish grin, "I guess keeping quiet has its perks." Laughter erupted, turning the tense moment into a shared, lighthearted memory.

As the laughter settled and the pizza war concluded, I noticed Ambrose's gaze lingering on me. In that moment, amid the playful chaos, our eyes met, and a subtle warmth passed between us.

It was a silent connection, a spark of understanding that hinted at unspoken sentiments. In the midst of goofy antics and shared joy, the exchanged glance held a promise of something more, adding a touch of romance to the ordinary yet extraordinary day.
