It's been 6 months sense an unknown virus began changing society across the globe. People whom are immunocompromised are dying quickly but the real issues starts when they rise again. You never thought a real zombie outbreak would ever occur in your lifetime, but here we are.
Being a medical student in this tough time has made your help essential. At first you didn't mind, but certain things are becoming questionable. People are acting strange.
Let's find out how Reader-chan survives a modern Zombie Apocalypses.

"(Y/n), I need you to clamp off the area around the stomach."
"I'm on it Doctor. His liver is already infected perhaps we can biopsy the area and prolong the spread."
He nodded, adjusting his mask while he waited for a nearby nurse to dab the sweat forming on his brow. With your watchful eye, you observed every move the surgeon made. This has never been your area of study, but sense the global disaster you've been trying to learn everything the medical field had to offer.
Everyone was quiet as the surgeon removed a graying area around the unconscious patients liver. Your eyes rose in surprise both of your fists clenching in defeat. The surgeon briefly lifted his head, and you offered a nod that told him this surgery was now useless. The green veins that were a tall tell sign of the B-13 virus had already infected the entire organ.
There was no saving this man. More than likely his spleen and intestines were going to start swelling soon. He'd die from organ failure in just a few hours. Then like so many before him, would rise again with a hunger for flesh and blood. It never really seemed like brains was what the Zeds were really after.
"I'm calling it. We can't waste medicine if we know the patient wont survive." You agreed wholeheartedly. It wasn't about sounding cruel. Right now people who had the highest chances of survival mattered the most.
"Please note the time. (Y/n), can you write up the paper work?"
"Of course. Mr. Jacobs only had one daughter, I'll contact her. Everyone knows we're cremating bodies to prevent further disasters."
With a solemn nod, he snapped off his gloves tossing them in a nearby waste bin. While you wrote down the details of the patients passing, you heard everyone else taking turns washing their hands. Staying clean and assuring the operating room was completely sterol was even more important than it used to be.
Not to long after everyone left, the night crew came in to take the body. Both barely acknowledged you with a nod before heading swiftly out of the room and to the elevator. The lowest level of the hospital was a crematorium that had been quite the godsend considering bodies needed to be cremated no mater what so they would not rise again.
It wasn't an easy job but you informed the recently deceaseds daughter of what had happened and ended up spending several hours consoling her. Luckily unlike other hysterical people in this trying time, she didn't make any attempts to blame you or the doctors.
Not a single part of you could blame her for being heartbroken. She may of been 28 but now she was alone. It brought distasteful memories of your own parents to the forefront of your mind. At this point you had no idea if they were dead or alive because after a certain incident, you moved far away and haven't seen or heard from them in 8 years.
Thinking about them always leads down this rabbit hole of disappointment. Luckily you're an empathetic person and can push down all the hurt you've felt from them throughout your life. Such selflessness makes you a great nurse and hopefully even with this epidemic...an even better Doctor someday.
