Emmy, also known as Her Lady of Blackrain, Mistress Emerald, is Zanna's mother. She is a warlock who died when Zanna was four. Her spirit is attached to Zanna and she often makes her presence known. She enjoys sticking her nose into Zanna's business and insists on calling her Suzy-Beth. She speaks with a very strong Southern drawl.
In life, Emmy was incredibly powerful, and her magick drove her insane. Despite this, she is often helpful, and unlike most of the Blackrain family, she is not fully evil.
OLIVER BLACKRAIN

Oliver is Zanna's cousin. Until his arrival in New York City, Zanna hadn't seen him since she was four. He is a warlock who claims to have switched sides and become a witch, but Zanna doesn't trust him. Maddie, on the other hand, trusts him immediately.
He is a werefox, a fact that is initially not known to Zanna or anyone else. Oliver is incredibly intelligent and is full of random useful information.
