Trina

"TRINA!"

Silence.

"TRINA GET THE HELL UP!"

"Ok ok!- I'm up!" I groan, rolling over in my small bed. I sit up reluctantly and blink slowly, fighting the urge to lay back down. Getting up, I look around my horribly messy room for my school clothes and grab them before heading to the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror with disgust, looking away and avoiding another glance as I turn the shower on.

"I'm leaving!" I yell out plainly, still upset about the event occured the day before. After getting no response, I close the door to the house and start walking to school. I've been walking to school since I was in first grade, through snow and everything; there were rarely times where my grandfather felt oh so gracious as to giving me the privilege of being driven to school, not that I really cared, at least my journey to school was quiet opposed to the arguing that would happen every time we were near each other for more than 15 minutes.

I arrive at the side door of the school, ringing the buzzer, waiting to be let in. When I entered the building I saw my old fourth grade teacher--who is now the assistant principal and my favorite staff "Ms. Brown!" I say, coming up to her and giving her a big hug "Heyy hon, how was your weekend?" She asked, we were pretty much at eye level, I was the tallest and oldest girl in my 8th grade standing at around 5'10 and 15 years old. "It wasss..ok?-" I say, trying to find a reassuring way to put my horrible weekend. "Not a great weekend?" She guessed by my answer, frowning slightly "it's ok hon, you can have a better week then" she says, a smile returning back on her face.

I wish that was true.

After School

"Bye Mr. Bix!" I call, running after my friends Alonni and Ty'ani, who was holding onto Alonni bookbag, trying to keep up with her fast ass- "Alonni!- slow down damn!" I yell, running down the stairs after her and into the large crowd of students trying to leave just like us. "Maybe you should keep up then, Trina" Alonni taunts, slowing down once they got out the building, following the concrete onto the sidewalk outside school grounds. Ty'ahani finally lets go of Alonni, fake huffing and puffing "You know- Tri right- you needa slow yo ass down-" she breaths out, putting her hand on her chest playfully as loni rolls her eyes. I smile and look at them "c'mon, I gotta get home inna few minutes so let's go"

"Loni what time is it?"
"Um..3:42"
"oh shit-" I say, immediately grabbing my bag and hugging my friends "I'ma catch y'all tomorrow- I gots to go before I get in trouble-" waving, I run to my place. Huffing as I unlock the door "Papa!" I yell, setting my bag on the floor and sighing "Papa?!-" I yell again, letting out a breath when I realised he wasnt home meaning I wouldnt get in trouble. I sit and about 15 minutes later I hear a knock on the door. Raising my eyebrow, I get up and open the door, my face lighting up as I open the door "hey ma, miss me?" He says slowly, smiling and opening his arms as I hug him, smiling big as usual. "Di! Where you been??" I ask as I close the door and come outside with him "I was with my auntie for the last week" he says looking at me as I frown softly "aw, Ms. Mattie went to the hospital again?" He nods sitting down on the ground patting the ground next to him as I slide down and sit with him. "She ok now?" I ask worriedly looking at him as he nods "yea you know her, strong as fuck" he said, watching the corners of my mouth turn up at the news "Di.." "hm?"
"I gotta go stay wit my aunt for a bit, my grandfather got a court case" I say, looking at him sadness evident in my eyes.
